This UI has it's good points if it had
  • Full screen
  • Music
  • List by weight
  • HD mechs
  • Lobby
It would kinda rock. Seems like people think 2.0 is cluttered. I personally didn't test your thoughts?

I would just like to be able to click on a mech and see what it has (weapons, modules, engine) like we have in UI1.5 BUT Ui2 seems to ignore this need and requires you to go into the mechlab and click on every location to figure out what your mech has,. Brilliant.

We really need lobbies, I really hope the UI becomes streamlined and CW is good.

Current UI isn't horrid, but it's not setup well for modification later, which is a problem and why we're stuck missing several features.

The new UI wasn't layed out very well. Where it improved on the current one, it did so very well (nice easy visuals, lots of intformation), but where it failed was it was missing some other basic info, was missing some functions, or some of the info was hard to read, let alone things like the mech lab being so hard to use it would drive me to quit.

The new UI can be fulls screen, lets you filter mechs out a bit, but is missing HD mechs. I can live without music (easy to add your own, and I'd likely turn it off) though.

The new UI needs to be at least as functional as the current one. I'd rather they get it there and then get it out before they implement a lot of new features in it.

UI 1.5 is beyond better than what UI 2.0 has to offer. All 2.0 has going for it is aesthetics, which doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Like the OP said, add those things and stay with 1.5, then anything else that needs to be added can just be a pop up window on top of the current UI, if its too much a hassle to code it in directly. I wouldn't care if the lobbies or CW were a different pop up window that just overlays on top of the current UI 1.5 window.

In fact, I think that would make more sense. Have the current window that pops up as the Mech Lab window, then have a separate window be the Ready Room window, where you can launch a match, choose gametypes, organize teams through the lobby. I think Community Warfare can either be tied into the Ready Room window or it can be a separate window itself (seeing how it can have extensive amounts of options).

If they would add lobbies no one would care about the UI.

Some people don't even like the fact that the game is in a window. I have a feeling giving them pop-up windows would make things worst. Either way I doubt it would actually be any easier to do than not doing it. The current setup is just not designed with what they actually needed in mind. Why, I have no idea, but they need to change it over period.

Just why their method of saving me clicks more than doubles the click needed boggles the mind. Selecting mechs in gird/list format is much nicer, as well as seeing what gear I own a bit easier, but beyond that the current layout seems better to me. Just seems like I have to go all over the screen to get to what I want.

To be honest with you the UI 2.0 artwork looks good compared to the other UI.

The only problem that kills it however, is the cluttery appearance of it as few others are:
  • The mechlab items are all piled up together.
  • Even the Mech list itself, feels like it is all cobbled up.
  • The text is too small to understand and it can cause some bad eyestrain
  • Putting items in mechs sometimes doesn't play fair with you.
  • The menu should be at the upper right corner instead of the lower left and the font need to be bigger.
  • I agree that the mechlab is too intuitive, dragging items way is better than double-clicks
  • The sounds are freaking annoying! I don't mind itwhen you click stuff, but when you hover over items it's really irritating.
  • Last, Customizing mechs is pretty abysmal, Smurfy's version does it better. Using smurfy mechlab will help you out tremendously for UI 2.0
I understand they released this for feedback but, if these problems still exsist once UI 2.0 debuts, then it will do MWO more harm than good. Especially for the new user experience. The only thing I can think of is having a voice and a non-skipable animation for the tutorial, that should help out new players experiencing this UI for the first time.
