Hi.

After reading through some topics, I still didn't find the information I searched for. It concerns sensor data and automatic sharing of these.

Assuming no ECM, BAP...

1) If I am alone and the only one with line of sight to see 5 enemies on my radar, my far away team with no LOS will see NO targets on their radar or map?

2) In the same situation, if I lock on onto 1 enemy, my team will ONLY see this target of said 5 enemies?

That would mean, that if I had no LOS but would still see multiple enemies on my radar or map, that every enemy would be locked on by at least one of my team mates...

That's correct.

Answer to your question: No

Data is only shared for targets you or your teammates have locked on to. Once you lose the lock their marker is no longer visible to your team unless you or another teammate reacquires the lock.

Thats why "r" is the most importent key in the game, only followed by "b" (and "h" on Terra Therma).

But, if you bring an UAV you can give shared data to your team, and get alot of extra xp as well. :D

remember if you are "alone" and see those multiple mechs, spam your "R" key. It is a quick way to let your team know there are multiple contacts. It only takes a second and can save the mech of a teammate as they all go rushing towards "first contact"

the only variance to this is the uav module. once lanched all enemys within the radius of the uav are visible to your entire team for the duration of the uav

I find a more ergonomic keybind for target is the space bar, since it sits under your thumb you don't have to stretch your fingers across so far. Either that or left Alt (which i use for JJ).

Thanks for the answers. Still find it a bit weird, that only the locked target is visible to my team and not every contact on my radar, but it clarifies why players with LRMs always want targets to be locked.

I noticed this technique used by some players from time to time. Now it makes more sense, why they did that.

The Mini-Game of MW:O is to Fill teh Hollow Frellin' Triangles: Any time you have a hollow triangle, it means you have Line of Sight to an enemy unit not on the Sensor Net, and so you are the only one whom knows about said unit.

Filling the triangle, done with the "R" key by default, puts the target up on the Net, providing your teammates with A Clue. Hammering away on the R key when you have moar then one hollow triangle on screen will generate Moar Clues.

You will be cussed at for creating Clues: Many dislike the noise, or else think you are a slacker for not giving away your position with weapons fire; Allied LuRM Boats will give you a {Scrap} about it, as they don't believe in the Scouting Phase of the game: A steady lock is how they earn cash, so you doing anything else is you being uncooperative

This is all systemic of the many Player-base Wide Doctrinal Issues in the game: Knuckle-Draggers just wan'a brawl, think you are not contributing if you don't play just like them, and are mystified how they stumble into ambush after ambush …

ECM is a whole 'nuther issue, but can be summed up as shutting down the mini-game … And might even be responsible for "stay in the blob" meme, now that I think on it … Posted Image

Did this change some time between closed beta and now?

Because I seem to remember that it used to be that
hollow triangle = someone on your team has LoS but nobody targets that enemy currently, and
filled triangle = someone on your team targets that enemy.

I'll have to try to remember to make a screenshot of it, but I'm rather sure I've had hollow triangles on my HUD for enemies there's no chance I've personally had LoS to. Perhaps that was back in closed beta though...

Do this (spam R key) again before you die when engaged by multiple enemies. Also, carefully approach positions where a friendly just died, even if it looked like all they were fighting was one heavily damaged mech. They were probably only targeting one mech and there are several more undamaged ones in the same area.

iv got rolled more than once thinking a friendly was fighting only one or two enemies, come busting in expecting to even the odds only to share a grave.
