This idea originates largely from my experiences with PAYDAY 2.

In PAYDAY 2, at the end of a completed mission, or mission chain (only in victory) The player is offered one of three cards to choose from.

Each of the cards has a chance of being a Weapon component, a Material, A color, A pattern, or a Mask. (Equivalent of Hats in TF2)

My suggestion for MechWarrior online would be that kind of Minigame after every so often Victories (Every three; Two in a Row; Or after any victory based on Contribution score; Etc.)
you would be able rummage through three "Piles of Scrap"

You would be able to aquire a Weapon(Small, Average, and Large (Small laser, Medium laser, Large Laser/PPC)) A Consumable (random) An upgrade Token (Explained as"House Favor", that would allow a free upgrade like Double Heatsinks) And Part of a Mech chassis (Like the Leg of a Jenner, so if you *Collect them all* You have a shot at getting a CHASSIS for free, Not including the Engine or any other part.(This could also work for engine ratings. 3 Engine parts for Standard, 5 for XL engines.)

This system would not work for HeroMechs obviously, but it would allow for the C-bill Rate to stay as it is, as well as give another reason to play that is somewhat like Gambling. (We all know that works well)

Of course any other additions or Modifications could be made to this suggestion as well as Improvements held in this Thread are appreciated and welcomed.

Reminds me of the cards you can choose from when you gain a rank in Mechwarrior Tactics.

Seems alright, if you balance weapons against mechs and equipment. I can just imagine the rage of trying to find that last jenner part and getting everything but (even other jenner variants)

Might be an interesting take on the whole salvage thing too.

I think that parts you find for mech chassis should be determined by bits you kill on the field.

Say you really need that last piece for your Jenner set. Now you just have to find a Jenner and take out components and your chances of getting a part from the Jenner will increase by 15% each component you take.

Alternatively, you could combine Two parts for the chance of getting the part you want.

Like you have amassed 6 Atlas Legs, and want a different part. You can combine two legs(Torsos, Arms, Side Torsos) to have a chance of getting the leg you want by Selecting a weight class.

You might no get the Jenner leg, but a Raven one instead. If you have too many Raven legs, the cycle continues again, but wont make another Raven leg in that weight class since you're using Raven legs.

Eventually you would get the parts you want, but acquiring a stack of that many legs around would take just as much time as buying the Full chassis with weapons, Engine and anything else tacked on.

(For clarity's sake, it should be noted the legs are a Metaphor for parts laying about, or spare weapons.)

I really like the concept of finding chassis parts and collecting them until you get a complete set.

The mini-game concept is ok too, but might seem a bit too "arcadey" or like a console game. I think just having a simple salvage system that automatically assigns various mech parts and/or weapons after the match would suffice. Your chances of getting something good would depend on how well you performed in the match.

The mech parts could be stored in a salvage inventory until you had all the parts needed to make a complete chassis, at which point the completed mech could be transferred to an open mechbay ready for normal customization.

Shooting out a mechs components would give you a chance to receive the destroyed part as Salvage. Shoot off an Atlas arm? You might receive an Atlas arm as part of your loot.

Add's a bit of depth, some reason to shoot stuff other than the CT

I've said before: I like the "Physical Salvage" Idea. Blow off a mechs arm. Get what was left in tact.

However, this is a free to play game. so I don't think it would be done in any way "cool."

what we will get is something HORRIBLE like from Mechwarrior Tactics. Or even worse; Crates from Team Fortress 2.

Could this idea be done well? Yes, amazingly.
Will IGP let it be done well? Not when there's money to be made.

Well if money is the issue, then allow Premium players a shot at 5 cards, and Pick 2

This would give another reason to get premium, in that you get more chances to get the loot you want.

Also, the type of loot acquired could be based on you score.

So if you got a score of 10, then you would most likely get a Small laser or a Machinegun, but if you get 50, your chance of getting a Large Laser or something would increase

At round 80 you would get the chance for Colors, at 100 would be Mech/Engine parts and above would be various doodads for your pilot seat.

Getting premium would also increase the Team score variable for the loot process (not scoreboard) by about 50%(Higher or lower)

Star Conflict has something like this as well:

Loot screen

If a player is part of the winning team, they are awarded the chance to loot the battle field, here the player can find anything from junk sold for credits to experimental rare weaponry, and also nothing. It’s so wonderful when you have 3 chances to loot without a licence and you end up with nothing. Put simply you start out with 3 chances on a basic license, and extended license gives you 2 extra chances, there is a downloadable content package available on steam that will permanently increase your chance by 1, as well as a device you can purchase that will increase your chance by 1 temporally for 5 battles.
