NOTE: This is not a rage filled nerd rant; it's merely an expression of an opinion and an attempt to gather some metrics.

I'm a "Whale", I suppose.
I also proudly own every single Jenner, released thusfar.

But... I have to hesitate on the Oxide. Now, if I may have a show of hands, how many of us:

Would purchase the Oxide immediately IF IT MOUNTED JUMP JETS?

If you're sick of Jenners, fine, if you hate the loadout, fine. If you've elected to "Not Spend another {scrap} {Richard} {REDACTED} dollar on this game until CW and UI2.0 are implemented".... fine... (I actually don't care about that last one). All I want to know is How many would purchase with the above tweak.

I was all geared up to get the Oxide for its great streak boat potential. Then I went to Smurfy's to play with some build options and noticed the lack of JJs. I am now out of the market. I feel like a potentially great 'mech that would be fun to pilot has been eviscerated.

To make myself clear...I would have bought the Oxide if it had jumpjets.

Even with jumpjets I just don't see what would make this mech worth buying. The champion Jenner is a far superior mech hands down.

I too was going to buy it without question when I first saw it, but the second I saw it couldn't mount JJ's I dropped my wallet like it was a snake stuffed with spiders. That combined with the acceleration penalty made it something I no longer wanted. I can live with the 20% penalty, but not having JJ's means not getting my $$'s. Should they fix that issue I would purchase it immediately. But that is just my 2 cents.

Additionally as some one who prefers lasers to missiles... It basically 'really sucks'...

Jenner's are like Pokemon, gotta collect 'em all. (I've never actually played Pokemon but I hear thats a 'thing' ;) )
"Worth" is subjective. The JR7-D(S) was a fantastic purchase. I prefer running my Founder's JR7 to anything because they're getting more and more rare. Anyway, the relative value of the mech versus other variants or versions of the chassis isn't the point, the purpose of this thread is to raise awareness of the fact that a substantial portion of us would buy the thing without hesitation, if it were not for this single, bizarre, ill considered "balance" issue. In the faint hope that PGI might fix the misstep.**

oi vey, guys. If you don't mind, move general opinions about the thing to one of the many 'New Hero Mech' threads please. Just want the purchasers to make their presence known in here.

Thusfar that makes3 PEOPLE WILLING TO PURCHASE THE OXIDE IF JETS CAN BE PATCHED IN.

** they actually do that, from time to time. I know we've a reputation as having an extremely poor relationship with our dev team, (which we will not segue into a discussion of here), but they do actually fix stuff requested from time to time. Anyone here recall the very first closed beta build?

No jump jets, slower accel and exclusively missile ports makes this a 35 ton commando. Your options are be a tiny LRM boat, run SSRM's or pray to the HSR gods and use SRMs.

other than what I would say is the best texture job in the game IMO, its pretty weak.

I bought it. The jump jets, especially while still in basic level, are VERY MUCH missed.

I'm seeing people Oxide'***** 3, 4, 500+ damage. In groups they are nasty, nasty light killers. In the end its a better mech than the Goldboy.

i'm gonna try running this thing as a 4xLRM5 boat. the acceleration & JJ nerf baffles me to no end though. you already can't equip Artemis on the 4x config since it's in the CT. Why not have 2 missile hardpoints on the arms?

I bought this mech to use it as an SRM boat. Then I realized that hit detection for SRMs is currently more broken than for any other weapon.....wouldn't recommend it.

Hmmm... I am guessing... This {Scrap} will be the new ultimate 4-MAN premade lance fast cheese mech.. Aka. Like the Raven 3L used to be.
I can imagine SSRM20x4+BAP+152KPH will be almost impossible for other light and medium lances to deal with... ;)

We may have just identified the new FOTM.

I'm a huge Jenner fan, so I bought it in spite of its deficiencies (I too am a Jenner collector, own all of them now). Though I certainly miss the jump jets, and while I do prefer lasers over missiles, this thing is still beastly.

4xSSRM2, XL295, BAP - I'm averaging 400dmg/match with it so far, with several matches 650-750. Even did 650 in a 12-man against the Blackstone Knights, and they're pretty damn good.

The simple fact is that if they made this thing too powerful people would immediately cry Pay2Win (and probably will even in its current state). I can understand why the lack of JJs would turn some people off to the 'Mech, but it's still very viable.

I think you are right. If it had 4 Streaks AND JJs, it would be OP. As it stands, it's likely to be the first "must have" MC 'mech in competitive play for light pilots. This thing is scary.

Too bad OP doesn't realise what he wants will turn the J-0 OP...
*pun intended... ;)

Makes me start to wonder again.. Why they up to the Streaks to 2.5 while SRM remain at 2.0...
PGI logic... Haiz...

The likely most powerful anti-light in the gameis now a pay only 'mech and you're still not happy?

Honestly, I think in top-end competitive play, the Jenner-F still has it beat. Top tier lights have pretty amazing aim, and when a lance of lights all put 5-6 medium lasers onto an enemy Jenner's CT, he goes down pretty quickly. With Streaks, you have no control over what component gets hit.

I was temped to get it until I saw no jump jets were on this. This is a HERO mech and should have had them. One can always adjust armament. So this one is out at this time. They should add them to all. Then I would reconsider.
