So, now that the clans have been announced - with game mechanics the way they are as we understand them, how do you (the community) think we can balance out the 100 ton mech-slayer Daishi?

My Example build:
19.5 tons armor
Endo Steel
2x UAC 20
4x UAC 10

80 damage alpha or a 160 damage double tap.

I'm gonna guess that if you fired all that together the ghost heat would blow you to dust.

If the Daishi doesn't destroy everything without blinking, you're being ripped off. It's the most OP mech in canon for a reason and I'll accept no less for the sake of "fun".

If you look at the packages, you see that there are different variants of the Daishi available. The Devs have created a pisss poor weapon system, but they do have a modicrum of intelligence to realize that AC's rule the game. Most likely the Daishi will be able to mount either 2 AC/20's or 1 AC/20 and 2 AC5 watch.

UAC/40 + 2 ERPPC = GGCLOSE.

The daishi has shoulder, upper, and lower arm actuators. It will not be able to mount AC20s in the arms.

The Clan UAC/20 only occupies 8 critical slots, weighs 12 tons, with an optimal range of 360 meters.

Honestly i care less about the mech than the weapons, the balancing always is based around them. If they can make the proper adjustments to weapons DPS/HPS then the rest will come naturally.

Headshots. The thing's cockpit is as bad as a Catapult.

Shoulders. It's got huge side torsos. Blow them both and it's engine goes.

CT. Like a Stalker or a Catapult it should eat CT shots and get cored pretty fast with a bit of effort on the part of its enemies.

Really... You trust this company to pull that off? You believe in Santa as we'll don't you?

The Daishi looks like it'll be a 100 ton boomcat, especially with that 'nose'.

Judging by some of the models, I wouldn't be surprised if clan mechs ended up with really bad hitboxes, so while they'll probably get lots of Boomjagers, they aren't going to get many Thuds in their lineup to balance it out.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding this... but when you say they've been announced, is there actual information on what is coming into the game? Or is it still just speculation because we know it's coming? If the former, can I get a link? XD

But we have no idea what the MWO Clan UAC/20 looks like. If they fire buckshot with an optimal of 260 I would call it lucky.

The buckshot thing will most certainly apply to the LB 20-X, but making Ultras into shotguns seems unlikey because of overlapping/redundancy. Whatever they do, they probably aren't going to mess with stock configurations, which implies keeping stuff at their TT weight and slot sizes. One other thing we can probably bank on is a more punishing use of ghost heat against Clan tech (they hinted at this in an ATD once), so it'll be a short-lived race to find the best non-heated combination.

Keeping stock configurations is impossible without making 1 ton of Clan weapons equal to 1 ton of IS weapons.

I'm just basing it off of what they've done for IS mechs so far. Anyways, PGI has already laid out that they want to nerf Clan tech--if it gets nerfed to a strong enough degree, we'll have to wait and see. Or if they even follow through with that plan at all.

They really should release more official details if they want people to buy this stuff...
