Believe it or not, the far superior agility of the HBK makes it a better back alley brawler (when elited it has no blind spot in th rear arc)-
I disagree with this. the jumpjets alone negate so much incoming fire.
Even if a person waits a few extra seconds to line up the shot due to the target being in the air it dramatically reduces the amount of incoming DPS.
Whatever the HBK can torso twist the SH can jump turn

P.S.
Endo steel on a 55 ton mech only saves you 2.5 tons just like a 50 tonner, so you only get 4.5 more tons to work.
Also XL300 in a 50 toner will give you 97.2 kph, you will need an XL330 in a 55 toner to go that fast, that alone eats up 4.5 ton difference between the two

jumping tends to make you a target for his friends. HBK stays hidden in cover, again, two mechs using similar armament, differently. I find my HBK far from obsoleted. But in truth, I find making the Shad a hopping Hunchback an utter waste of it's primary virtue, it's versatility.

I love the look of the HBK, love it.
I just hate the way it feels when I play it. It just feels clunky, fragile and my shots are always off-kilter.

and I feel that aside from lack of JJs, it dances like a ballerina.

I fear that the 55 tonners are going to kill the 50 ton mechs.
Already, the Kintaro is the better missile boat than the Treb. And if you miss the jump jets why not take a Griffin
(Say when have you last seen a Trebuchet?)
The ShadowHawk is the better AC20 Hunchback
And soon this Wolverine or that Wolverine or another Wolverine will replace the Cent / Cent
Edit: So far only the HBK-4P seems to be unique.

I would never stride into a brawl with that Shadowhawk build you linked. You're just asking to get cored. The Hunchback is a smaller target and has more agility for sneaking in and out of friendly packs to strike from the flank. Don't get me wrong, the Shadowhawk is an excellent chassis, but I wouldn't waste one with an AC/20. Especially when I think the HBK-4G does it better.

The 4-5ML/AC20 HBK-4H, the various 4P and 4-SP builds will all mop the floor with any shadow hawk that comes around the corner and they'll do it without using an XL engine.

Dont't get me wrong - I love my 4 Hunchies (G, P, SP, J yes even the J).
But personally I do significantly better in the SHD and I think it is due to more armor and jj.

To remind you: That is exactly what I am saying you get same speed same loadout plus additional armor and jj on top.

I think their might be some sort of ping/connection thing involved in this. I've found no one even slows down shooting me when I jj, so I rarely use them in combat except for 360 turns...

If you haven't figured out by now that mech's are essentially hard point skins with differn't max speed and tonnage and hit box's, i don't think anyone can help you. That being said, we will have to see what the phoenix mech's new hit box's are. I really don't see many great builds that i couldn't do on my treb or hawk. The trebs however work best as hit n run SRM boats. I'm not getting the sabre thingy, as i have enough good medium mech's and i don't see these really adding much to the game. Oh and centurions don't really have much to offer over any medium now a days. They just are tanky with bad hard points.

I've seen these threads for just about every new mech that has come out, and honestly I don't see it. Pilots will pick what they like and get good at it.

yup. In fact, I prefer it when Jenners and Spiders are in jump, as their path is more predictable. When the big guys are in mid air, I pretty much never miss.
