Yeah, I'm not coming back for this {Scrap}. I was all over the 'PGI needs to pay the bills' bandwagon, and all I've seen out of this company and game is mech after mech to sell to us, and nothing more.
Unreal. Absolutely unbelievable. You'll likely never see a dollar from me. I'm certainly not logging in again until I see something done about the two biggest portions of this fracking game.
PGI, I am disappoint.

What is up with unique modules or your Gold 500 dollar mechs? that is pay to win and not only that your prices are so high and outragous at this point this announcement did more to upset me then get me hyped about MWO.
No UI 2.0 No CW but we damn sure as hell can milk the community for some scratch~

I thought to myself Alex Iglesias you magnificent ******.
Then i looked at the other chassis and it was ^ times 10.
Really wonderful work FD.
As for the price of the Khan mechs, i have no problem with it.
They should be rare.
They are the mark of a sucessful person, as a Khan should be.
There is nothing worse than some 12 year old lad setting himself and proclaiming himself "Khan" of his clan
I don't think we will see too many of these, but that's as it should be.
I don't want to see 8 Khans in a single match, its something i expect to see on rare occassions.
Once again keep up the great work Alex and PGI, the new mechs are magnificent

We are to blame for not having Community Warfare or UI2.0 or any of the other features we really wanted in by now.
Why do I blame myself and fellow 'OverGolds'?
Because they told us in June 2012 that we would have all the features in game by open beta except community warfare, and that would follow within 90 days. (Link here)
We were gullible enough to believe them and give them $120 for a game sight unseen. From this they learned a $5 million lesson that Mechwarrior fans are gullible optimists that believe anything. Even after going to open beta with nothing in, people kept giving them money.
By 90 days after open beta they failed to deliver on CW, they failed to deliver on the 1:1 timeline, they failed to deliver on role warfare, they failed to deliver on pilot levels, they failed to deliver on skill trees, they failed to deliver on information warfare, they failed to deliver on UI2.0, they failed to deliver on DX11.
But then in March 2013 150 days after open beta they announced that community warfare would be released in 3 phases up until late summer. (video link here of Bryan saying it would be all 3 phases in up to launch/late summer.)
Up until June they still hadn't delivered anything from the list above, but hey they released phoenix and us overgolds bought it to reward their lack of progress. They told us it would come with a ~30% loyalty point boost and some medallions that would boost it a further 2%.
As of August they stabbed us in the
We should have paid attention at that point because PGI had clearly declared that they were going to change their position no matter what they had outright promised in the past if it suited them financially to do so. But gullible people like me who cancelled our phoenix packs bought them again when they took 3pv out of 12 mans as a 'good will gesture'.
Fast forward to 3 months after launch which is now 435 days after open beta they failed to deliver on CW, they failed to deliver on the 1:1 timeline, they failed to deliver on role warfare, they failed to deliver on pilot levels, they failed to deliver on skill trees, they failed to deliver on information warfare, they failed to deliver on UI2.0, they failed to deliver on DX11, they failed to deliver on loyalty points actually being in game, they failed to deliver on the phoenix badges.
Notice how they correctly interpreted our weakness and gullibility to mean that they don't have to deliver any of the content they promised to make or promised not to make?
We who have bought legendary founders packs and overlord packages are to blame for the state of the game. If you want them to actually implement the features you want, stop giving them money so they realize the have to follow through on past promises to get money. We tried the carrot, now we have to resort to the stick of starvation.
Remember: Giving them lots of money for nothing is the reason we still have none of the above (ok we do have the island we're on). We tried giving them money, now it's time to try holding out. If they die as a company it's not like they'll be really moving much slower than they are now.
Agreed. I for one... would like to apologize to the MWO community... I thought I was helping... I had no idea it would turn into this. Please forgive me.

Their has never been a Mechwarrior game that has ever had a real CW, or other things in the pipe line. Every Mechwarrior has been about destroying other mech either those piloted by AI or those by other players. Yet everyone is pissed that game is lacking. No one is forcing to buying any package or keep playing said game. Am I happy about certain things no, but am I going to act like a little spoiled brat about.
In core concept the game is sound now if the other things planned failed well then that's another story. Ok I have my marsh mellows and hotdogs ready flame away.
tsula uses Boost Fire Resist!
tsula's Fire Resist increased!
MoonUnitBeta uses bubble beam...
I'm more going off of what they said they have had planned for this game. I am really hoping it doesn't turn out just like al lthe others like you say, just shootin mechs. I'd like something to work towards..

What are you gonna do when PGI addresses this thread on Monday (most likely) and they change the prices or offer some tiny compensation, like a gift certificate for a kid's meal at Ruby Tuesdays with every purchase?
Are you gonna backtrack and pay a bunch of money, sight unseen? Or are you going to stick to your guns and wait for progress to be made?
I'm going to not spend anything (more!) until the game is worth playing and has some staying power. What is the point in having shiny mechs if there is no good game to use them in?
Personally I take comfort from the fact that it costs PGI money every time I hit Launch.

HTML Maps are not that hard to make... Many f2p browser games make campaign maps too... Think they could do it with all the money we've gave them.

Wrong, it was called multiplayer battletech 3025 and it was superior to this game in every way except for the excellent graphics by flying debris.

You inadvertently pointed out what people are so upset about.
Why would you be playing this game when those 'mechs become available?
I still drop, occasionally, but it's just... boring. Drop into the same map, with everyone running one or two optimized builds for each chassis (some of those chassis being tantamount to a handicap) - all for the sake of grinding up for C-bills to make 'mechs I've already bought and paid for competitive - on top of having to grind xp for them.
Sure - I can throw money at the inconveniences ... but even if I were to convert xp into gxp to level up a few mechs I see as being particularly interesting out of my Phoenix package.... what's that actually for?
Is the game really all that fun?
True - it's a game I -want- to be fun. It's a game I -want- to want to tell my friends about so that we can all drop in and play as a team... but the experience of the game has hardly changed in the past year - with most of the changes being tolerable at best and bad/destructive on the whole.
Don't get me wrong - I'm glad to see new maps coming, I'm glad to see new mechs coming.
But.... I can't help but feel as if all of those resources are a waste within the current game - and could be handled much better than they currently are.
No, no... you're horribly, horribly confused.
GDC Vault - F2P the Wrong Way: Age of Empires Online
It's a somewhat long presentation - but there are some key highlights in there:
Business models do NOT equal Production Models. New player bases require an expansion of deeper features rather than a release of additional content that does little to enrich the gaming experience.
Established Titles CAN NOT HAVE A SOFT LAUNCH - a 'soft' launch is where a minimal game is 'launched' and expansions are added on little-by-little as interest grows. People come to established titles with expectations built based upon previous games in the series. Launching a minimal shell of a game and hoping to 'build it as you go' does not work. This is exactly what many of us were trying to tell PGI with regards to their launch date in October.
I am sure, if PGI even built themselves the capacity to see how many daily users are online (it wouldn't surprise me, at this point, if they do not have that capability), that PGI will notice an almost identical trend to that which is noted in the presentation. Releasing the Phoenix package did see a rallying of the community - I am sure. More players came back to see what the hubub was about, and revenues spiked (it did out-sell their expectations - and the Founders Package brought in 5 million dollars : http://www.google.co....57967247,d.aWc ) ... but that has already declined back down to more average pre-Phoenix numbers, I am sure.
The release of the Clans will reveal almost no gains in user activity.
The reason is because their production model is flawed (and I would argue, their business model is too).
They are not paying attention to the long-term success of this game. They have made probably close to $20M on a game that could have been developed with $1M. While I'm sure they've used creative accounting to over-bill for expenses and other such ways of making production look more expensive than it actually was (or needed to be) - the fact is that they are more than set to develop an impressive game.
Path of Exile was developed up to the release of its open beta with around $4M in developmental expenses - and when they launched their open beta, they launched with, easily, 50 hours of content, end-game content, complete leveling trees, complete game mechanics (that were only expanded upon through the open beta), etc.
I stopped playing that game for a while and returned to have to practically re-learn the game. Development on it was -very- fast.
And those guys built their own game engine from the ground up. They weren't building off of an established base like CryEngine.
It's a business providing a service. Because of Intellectual Property Rights, Copy Rights, Trade Marks, etc - they currently hold a monopoly on this particular service that we really would like to see done justice.
+1

Yeah, I'd like that timber.. However, at this point, I really feel spending any more money on mechs isn't helping game. On the contrary, it's enabling all this nonsense to go on. When game content updates bring nothing but a new virtual figurine on the battlefield.

As I understood it, the game was suppose to come out of Beta in full Release with Community Warfare. What happened?
UI-2.0
As I understood it, this was supposed to also be up and running with the full release of the game as well. What happened?
Bugs?
You fix one, 20 more appear in its place.
People are still getting stuck on maps.
Hit boxes still broken, need tweeking.
Hit Registration, Broken now since one or two patches ago.
Weapons not hitting like they should for the damage they should.
Heat Penalty - Works but dosnt to stop boating.
Hackers - Running rampant, as you have no Anti-Cheat system in place and the rumor is no one gets banned anyhow for it.
Highlander Jump Lag - You cannot get registration on a Highlander while in the air, its as if its still on the ground so you can pound away at it while its jumping and damage registers very little. Not to mention it always seems as if the highlander has about 2 - 3 times its normal amount of armor when attacking it.
Crappy Weapons Layout's on the mechs coming out
Hero Mech's that make no sense, Jester, Oxide. I'm sure there is more.
bugs, bugs, bugs, and more bugs.
2 Game Types, the few more to come in the future seem no better than what we have.
1 New map every few months if were lucky. SUGGESTION: Create a Map Creation Program, let the damn community help! Custom made maps would be great dont you think? Many games have had amazing community made maps.
No Lobbies....
Grouping... Forcing us to play in groups of 4 takes half the fun out of the game. We play to play with friends, and our groups. The future of the game seems to play to this anyhow, as it sounds as if your forcing us to play 12 v 12 anyhow for community warfare? Then you need to lift the group restrictions... Let us practice playing as such. Or you need to groom community warfare to allow for 4 player drops somehow. PUGs are going to die, and loose. But that dosnt mean they wont learn! Getting in game voice systems to work would be good for this as it would allow for better coordination. That or you need to start making direct outlets to communities like NGNG through your sites, direct links to the TS3 servers and such to encourage team gameplay via voice chats. Otherwise it's there loss. I dislike the grouping and I am certain a better system can be put in place.
C-Bill Grind - Your adding to the ability to make more money, that's great. It still sucks to grind.
Late Spawns! - This is something you need to work into the game in the future, especially for games in the future. If a slot is open because a player DCed I think a new player should be introduced into the game during the first 2 mins. of match play. They can be delivered via a random drop spot on the map and come in via drop pod. The Animation would be awesome! But I'm tired of your system launching us 1 - 2 players down for whatever reason. it would and could be a big game changer to have someone fresh suddenly drop in.
Assault Maps - NO MORE CAP! The Cap should not unlock to CAP finish the match until a certain time point is met. Otherwise it turns into CAPWARRIOR Online. I'm tired of it, go freaking play conquest. Assault is a Kill or be Killed Map. The Cap can be a strategic plot point, but so many times have people been denied the chance or full effect of combat on this map type because lights rush the cap and finish the game. No more I say! Assault needs to be a Live or Die map type. Either Remove the Caps all together, and leave a time limit, or set the cap's to unlock in the last 2 - 3 minutes of the map.
Artillery - I'm sorry, my Atlas's Eye would be impossible for an Artillery strike to Nail and Cockpit shot me to death, this is wrong and needs fixing. I understand it explodes when contacting the ground and shrapnel but seriously, if it can take an AC round why could it not handle flying debris. Platforms, Bridges and other barriers.... It goes right through! I cant hide under the landing pads at a cap to protect parts of my mech from artillery! Really? Now Airstrikes... I can see that, as they should be coming in at an angle. Airstrikes make total sense. But not an Artillery strike! We went from one extreme to another. One artillary strike or two per match to ALL OF THEM! ?!?!?!? Really? Artillary I suppose does or can work like that, but 40K C-Bills each.... to get less than 10K Cbills worth of Damage... and loose... Make maybe 30K - 40K a round. Nice. Or even win and make maybe 80K - 100K not bad. If... If you can pull the damage, kills and score.. etc to win well enough.
My advice...
STOP Making MECHs! Focus on BUGS first, UI2.0, and Community Warfare first. Forget everything else...
MAPs - Get the Community's help. There is talent out there... USE IT!
Servers - Get Lobbys, Allow Community Hosting, take a small cut for renting server's! This {Scrap} you have planned to make people go Premium Accounts is sounding more like Money Hungry BS to me.
Hacking - GET some Anti-Hack Software and start enforcing punishment! Search for that {Scrap}, you'll find it.
Money - Stop thinking about getting rich quick off this, YOU WENT FREE TO PLAY for F's sakes... it takes time and effort to build up to the point where you can even remotely start making good money off these things unless you do it right, and clearly your not doing it right yet.
Lots of things to fix. So little time before you really start loosing your player base... if that's not already happening. I'm no professional at these things, but I can only go on what I see. And the above is what I see.
Thanks for listening if you did, I do truly appreciate your time.

EDIT: There is something horribly wrong with that map, it's been Photoshoped to reflect a wishful outcome of what the territories REALLY looked like.
