Seriously though, if every other post is hating on this plan, maybe you should rethink it just a little bit. No information means nobody will be able to make an informed purchase. No content in the last months means the players feel you've been stealing their money for the Phoenix Packages. No follow ups or big release, no UI 2.0, no private matchmaking, no Community Warfare...

Seriously you guys must be milking us for what we're willing to buy. CHANGE the way the packages are delivered. Why would anybody pay 210 dollars just for the Timberwolf? Sell select packages for what people want at better prices instead of baiting people into buying these large packs full of mechs they might not want.

It doesn't matter how many hate on this in the forums if they packages sell well nothing will change. Every one of these sales, including founders packages has been called a cash grab and would cause the doom of pgi. Yet every single one has did really well.

Thank you sir, at least some with sense here. Not necessarily defending PGI for the sake of it, but we do want this game to succeed so we can play it, and we need to push constructive comments out there instead of massive knee jerk rants...

Well from a business POV every move PGI makes has had a reason other than greed. They have investors that they answer to.

Founders Package - Initial jump start in funding to show potential to attract investors

Phoenix Package - Goes on sale Jun 25th. 5 days before mid year and quarter end for the business. That 5 day influx would be enough to boost the bottom line.

Clan Package - Goes on sale Dec 12th. 19 days before year end. They learned from Phoenix that people trickle buy for a couple of weeks. This sale will boost their bottom line more. I believe this is so that they can receive or increase their budget for the next year.

What I deduced a while ago... they're manipulating their revenue by timing new package sales. They aren't making enough money on microtransactions. MWO is not a self sufficient title without investors and these Package sales. Their aggressive pricing to the point of insulting the player base suggests that they haven't done a price point analysis. I think I'll post some ideas I've had on some microtransactions that would work in the Suggestion forum.

I enjoy MWO more than most, even without CW, UI, etc.. I'll keep playing it, and I would like PGI to succeed, but from my previous experiences, PGI needs to revamp their business model. Otherwise, they have maybe two more packages after clans. Next package will probably be another round of unseens, and finally a few more clan mechs. After that, they'll be looking at a quick end to this ride.

Good luck PGI! ;)

P.S. You can expect big sales of some sort at every business milestone. Quarter End, Mid Year, and Year End. ;)

MW:O is not a good revenue maker. They simply do not have enough things to spend money on (compared to LotR Online for example).

I would love to see your numbers.

I'm not excited about clans, or community warfare, or dx11 anymore... I'm excited as to how they'll be responding to 'justify' this. Could've at least made it like the founders and allowed people to choose their 'mechs from selected groups depending on the price, instead of this ridiculous climb from light to assault scheme.

I also understand clan 'mechs are supposed to be expensive in the world of BattleTech, and if that's your reason, then I'm sorry, 'cause in the world of reality, you guys are pretty damn stupid.

I don't understand why someone would want to waste money like that on a video game, and I flipped out years ago when PC games breached the £30 barrier, so consider me stingy.

Ok then. I will send that news to the Mech Art design Team. (boggles)

I am sorry, I do not consider Mechs to be content any more than Christmas Lights or hanging medallions. Maybe we are just using different definitions. But even if I did consider them content, I have about 50 mastered mechs and I would like some New and Different content.

Those drawings are pretty okay. Will the left knee of the Timberwolf damage the rear center torso, I wonder?

Okay, my original awe (with the mech designs) and rage (at their prices and timing) is over. I will now make a fully thought out comment.

PGI, I love MWO. Really, I do, and I'm sure plenty of other people here do too. However, why are you doing this?

We have ZERO information on how the Clan mechs are going to be implemented, to say nothing of how they'll be balanced. You want us to pay you money - ABSURD amounts of money - for something you haven't given us ANY information about. What is your logic for this? Are you trying to make up for the lack of UI 2.0 and Community Warfare by showing us the fancy Clan makes you have in production? If so, this wasn't the way to do it.

You're trying to sell us Clan mechs when UI 2.0 and Clan Wars aren't even out yet, and they were supposed to be out a long time ago. I'm not even a Founding member, I've only been playing for four months and I've sunk $60 into this game at most, and even *I* feel ripped off. How do you think the Founders and Vets, who have paid much more for this game, feel?

This is simply inexcusable. I don't know who in the world made the decision to release these packages or why they're being sold at the prices they are ($500 FOR A GOLD MECH?! I COULD BUY THE XBOX ONE I WANT AND A HANDFULL OF AAA GAMES WITH THAT!) Whoever was the head honcho of this decision needs to be... I don't know, fired or seriously reprimanded. Or maybe both.

I love MWO, I love MechWarrior, I'm starting to play Battletech and I love it, and I want to see this game succeed and be great. But the fact that you want us to buy these packages - or even expect us to - before you've even released and de-bugged UI 2.0 feels like a slap in the face.

If you were to re-release these packages at a later date, starting at $15 for a Light mech and ending at $50 for an Assault, I would gladly pay for them.

As for the $500 mechs... PGI, if you're going to charge me anything for $500, it'd better be a @#%%$! remote control Mad Cat that shoots nerf bullets. With REAL walking action. None of that fake wheel stuff.

Hmmm.. Gold 'Mech, for another $70 and I can pay my rent on my three bedroom house for a month. seems like a very reasonable amount for a few meg of data.

I am actually rather embarrassed about what has become of one of my most loved game IPs. Especially since the BT universe is story driven.. Overpriced death match game, I am so glad I had my doubts from the off and never invested a penny.

What is the number of limitited quantity gold mechs ?

About as many as there were Project Phoenix purchases required to go from Phase 2 to Phase 3. So, "hidden and probably changing depending on demand."

Sorry guys. Far too expensive.
I bought Overlord Phoenix because, while expensive, was good value. $80 got you 120 days of Premium Time (with pre-order) and 12 variants.
$240 for 24 variants and 90 days of Premium Time?
Uh. No.

The part where I try to click on something to find out what it means (gold mech?, what's a direwolf? What is a warhorn??)... and it directs me to a credit card purchase form...

That part needs some work.

Why? Working as intended, citizen.

Maybe so but they are asking 500 for one ******* mech now...i think the commuinty as wised up enough to know this is a freaking desperate cash grab. 80bucks was reasonable..hell 120 i can jusitify but 250 or 500?? hell no, no way.

*Sits in his chair smiling darkly as the Imperial Theme from Star Wars plays in the background.* Good MWO Forums.... Good... Let the hate flow through you...

But seriously I was happy to see the my Thor I wanted so badly looking so nice then the price tag was like ice in my heart, I got better things to blow $90 on and especially with all the new console and PC games coming out next year I want I will be waiting to see PGI change these prices otherwise no thanks to Clan mechs.

Isn't money made from paper?

yea who ever said money doesn't grow in tree's lived before general paper money ;p

so people are mad of such high prices after a 80$ package has been released with not enough content as is and more future promises for more content and a supposedly poor presentation on the clan invasion (no details on what its going to be besides new mechs that cost allot)

Pgi knows the mechwarrior community has more money then some others (just based off older age lol) and while the 10$ per mech thing is good deal but why not bump of the premium time for a 240$ package ? - It feels like a buisness thing to get players to buy more premium to grind for xp

like i said adding C-bill mechs for MC value seems like a way to jack up the mc price
but the price is just too high regardless of value the 500$ deal is for people with too much money lol

with the reputation of pgi dragged down due to delays/changes
but all these mechs look great regardless
;)
