so, now that the clans have been announced, can we PLEASE get a word on how they plan to incorporate clan/omni mech tech w/the existing IS tech?? will i be able to purchase ( for c-bills ) omni slots for my atlas?? mount salvaged clan tech on my K2?

As i can see it ,total integration of clan tech across the board is the only way to keep this game somewhat balance in the public games. Make the CW thing tech specific, just not the public smash-em-ups that alot of loyal Mechwarriors enjoy currently.

BTW
love the clan stuff PGI. Just hope its not too much too late.

pricing is way off base, yet i may still pay the $210 for my Mad Cat... J/S

Its been said on the ngng podcast several times now by different dev's, no buying it for c-bills and no salvage.

Nah it means clantech only for clan mechs which are Cbill/MC like any other. I hope they change that for "IIC" clan garrison mechs which are essentially jury rigged IS mechs fitted with clan weapons.

Still restricting it requires that they balance it, something they have said is their top priority in regards to clans since like forever.

IS will most likely get some tech like H. Gauss, Rotary AC's and X-Pulse eventually.

So while you can swap to any weapon you want, you cannot change engine or equipment.

Those omnimechs don't come in different variants, so we'll see. I hope engines are stock only since that will be an important factor in balancing clan heavies and mediums.

Omnimech's dont come in different variants. That is true, but it's funny that PGI is still selling a ''Prime'' and 2 other ''variants''. One can only wonder what are those variants. If they are alternative configurations, they are simply selling 3 exactly same mechs.

Another way to make them different variants could be by giving them different engines, equipment and armor.

From the fact that each of them has 3 variants, I think we can pretty much guarantee at least some form of hardpoint limitation on the variants (and perhaps a few Omni hardpoints thrown in).

ATM launchers aren't available until 3060, so that's a no-go.

3 different engines or combinations of engines and endo or something like that ...

Surely with the current system, we already have omni tech with the ability to swap and change load-outs on the IS mechs, or am I misunderstanding?

omni on clan mechs means a mad cat's arm can have either a energy weapon or ballistic weapon on the arm say a guass or ppc, current mechs have hardpoints you can't change atlas can't have a ac/10 on the arm, the HP is either energy or ballistic not both.

Now don't know if the mad cat arm can hold a ballistic on the arm or if thats the Mk 2 mad cat (has jump jets), so correct me if 'im wrong.

Omni Tech in Tabletop lets you put any weapon you want anywhere with few restrictions. You can't put large calibre ballistic weapons in the arms without removing the lower arm acutators for example. The current hardpoint system offers similar flexability where you can put any size weapon on any hardpoint but you can't change your hardpoint location or type.

To some degree.

Omnimechs have weaponpods, if a pod fits a location, you can put it there, but they have fixed engines and other things.
Pods can contain different weapons, like srm4 or srm2 but you can also fit a pod with a ml or a couple of mgs there as example.

IS Mechs have fixed weapons, but you can change the engine and other things.
