Not sure if an active number can be sent out. I still remember one competition I entered, at the and it was reported there were roughly between 8000-8500 participants. I found that an odd number, when I started I was ranked #25000 that should mean at least 25K people joined.

Concurrent vs total. 8500 concurrent users, over 25,000 who signed up for it.

Disaster. This is one of those games where I really, really found myself looking forward to enjoy and I even upgraded my system for it. I love the game and it is a lot of fun, but let's be honest, light mech building strategy and team deathmatch. That's it. So when they came out with the phoenix package; I knew that I would NEVER buy it. None of the mech's spoke to me or even remotely excited me. Now, this offer. If i had the money and I think it's safe to say that I might have it, but on a bunch of mechs? in a video game? Get an Xbox One. There will be a drop off, until the mechs release for in game credits

If they give me what I think is worth $240 (which I've already stated in numerous threads) I'll be dropping at least $210 for my Twolf and probably just give in to the extra $30 just to have the complete set. it's not the price stopping me from purchasing. It's the fact that I get more "bang for my buck" and in-depth story from Angry Birds than I get from MWO currently

so if I got this I'd go prema-broke from buying

Congratulations, PGI. You'll go down forever as the video game company that offered their players "BLING MECHS" instead of the features you'd promised a year previously. This is a "Darth Vader Yells NOOOOO" type move.

What we have here is a Forbes contributor who happens to play the game and is a little asshurt about the Clan Pack. This doesn't even pass the standard of journalism by providing context, much less correlations to the rest of the industry.

Author, GG, you've used your platform as a contributor for Forbes to voice your tantrum.

I swear to all that I hold dear that I attempted to read the Authors article with an open mind and I'm sorry to say I can away with the same conclusion.

While I appreciate it's difficult to couch ones personal bias, particularly when writing from a position of first-hand experience... The authors article did not feel as if he felt is necessary to provide any contrasting context for a reader to form their own opinion and rushed ahead to make sure his was the only rational / plausible one the reader left with.

On a personal note... I may read Forbes to bone up on my financial strategies... I'm most definitely not perusing it for the seething underbelly of the free-to-play industry. :)

I read it once because I was on the front page of the real estate section of their website. Of course, with the current website who the hell knows where that article is. I even made the front page of the business section of the local newspaper. ABOVE THE FOLD!

Ok, humblebrag is done. Let's continue discussion the downfall of modern journalism. Are they more or less trustworthy than members of Congress? Discuss!

In short... I trust a hearty fart after a gluttonous bowl of Texas Chili more than I trust either a politician, journalist or a talk show pundit to not reek of pure unadulterated *****. :)

I'll just stick to getting my financial advice from Cracked and Mad. They've never steered me wrong yet. They had an article on MWO a few months back. It involved a Spy vs Spy theme and a bunch of 3 stooges nyuck nyuck jokes

The article reads very much like a flame from a particularly literate member of this forum.

... And do people actually read Forbes for video games?

No, they read about it for financial information, like who is making a product you might want to seriously reconsider investing in.

$80 for 12 mechs + 12 bays + 90 days premium time versus $240 for 24 mechs + 24 bays + 90 days premium time? This is "about equal"? Looks an awful lot like 50% inflation to me.

It all works out to roughly $7 per mech (not a bad deal if you wanna buy bulk)

you know, Im daring to believe they've contracted some metalsmiths to produce solid gold mechs to compliment the in game ones. You know, so 500$ makes sense?

That would be fine. I still wouldn't buy one, though. I don't need/want it

I wonder how many readers of Forbes drive around in Hummer H3's? Talk about your overpriced status symbols, and I see plenty of those all over the place*. So apparently there is a market for ridiculously priced items that people will buy just to show off how much money they have.

Posted Image

Well, maybe not gold H3's, but an H3 is an overpriced status symbol no matter what price you may have gotten it for.

*I'm in California! Aren't we supposed to be ecologically-minded? Why the hell is everyone driving in Hummers and Escalades?

Ah, yes! But which one provides the least value for the money spent? Or rather, which one says "I have so much money that I can throw away on a complete waste of a machine just because" better? I bet it's still the H3, which is basically a marked up Suburban that works even worse off-roads. At least that Rolls has a decent engine that can take it from 0-60 in less than 12 seconds. Also the Rolls, even if not the best car in its class, still has a lot more style than the H3.

Have fun being banned :)

As a matter of fact, I think they should just ban those raging about TKing now. Just get those type of players out before they even become a problem
