The story line from Russ Bullock, was that the "wolf's" would be something to achieve when Community Warfare is here. Using your "loyalty" points/score to work your way up through each house's tree. When the top of each is reached, (completed all) you would be eligible to submit an offering to join the "Wolf's Dragoons". That would set you in a unique Pilot tree where special Mech's and weapons might be offered to you, and not be available to the normal players.

This be said, we need the UI2.0, and Community Warfare to be placed into the game before anything can be started. The Wolf's Dragoons would be a possible final objective for the "Faction" players to achieve. Merc. organizations may have a different option for them to achieve, something in the top tier line that opens up new items in the market or exclusive contracts.

So to answer you, no, you can not just start by joining that exclusive group.

This was talked about in Bryans presentation segment during the "team competition rounds" at the Opening party.

Sadly that would be the entirely wrong method of implementing a unit like wolfs, but that said they ARE the elite of the elite... not many players I have met over the last decade and a half would be worthy of the title... but a loyal faction player who worked to the top of the pecking order would have no place abandoning that in favor of a new faction either. perhaps as an elite status option for someone in the mercs faction, but the houses also have their own elite. as I read your comment I see so many ways the devs could go wrong with this concept it worries me.

corpse... one way to look at it is this... we SHOULD NOT be claiming cannon units (as most have a defined background that may be presumptuous to claim), and I have read that doing so is officially discouraged as well, but this is not to say one can not be a parody of such units, or create non-cannon expansion to those units.

for example a couple years back some of us where tossing around the idea of forming a 4th shadow stalker unit as a place old players who played early versions of MechWarrior, or even remember or possibly have "unseen" battletech units... due to the death of a computer I dropped out for a while so I do not know if anything came of such, but it is merely an example.

I am actually under the impression that there is, indeed, a Wolf's Dragoons player unit. The Devil Dogs under Star Colonel Peiper are supposed to be a Wolf's Dragoons sub-unit

I play with Wolf's Dragoons occasionally, whenever I feel like playing, but we aren't very busy. Small group and MWO is just hard to play.
