This is an usual thread in that its creator (me) won't be posting an awesome drawing because I'm too much of a scrub to do much beyond stick figures. Instead, this thread is a request to any bored artists out there to try and bring an imaginary mech of mine to life.

The name I came up with for it is the "BK-H66 Black Hand." A small snippet of made-up lore is that the Word of Blake saw a lot of potential with the Void Signature System technology, and believed that the Raptor II wasn't able to fully exploit its power. To accomplish this, they set out to create a deadly, maneuverable 65-ton heavy mech to make the most of those stealth capabilities, and they named it the Black Hand because it sounds badass.

For armaments, it carries 4 Medium Variable-Speed Pulse Lasers for deadly accuracy in close quarters, and a pair of Machine Guns Arrays (4 MGuns each) to serve as heatless backup weapons in close quarters and to slaughter any infantry foolish enough to be near it. It uses an Endo-Steel internal frame and is protected by 12.5 tons of Standard armor, which is reasonable for mech of it size. Its 325 Extra-Light Fusion engine gives it good speed for a heavy mech. Additionally, it uses a Compact Gyro to free up critical space to place its Guardian ECM. Its 13 double heat sinks can mostly handle the mech's heat buildup when it is not using VSS, but when it is using Void then the pilot will have to choose between keeping VSS active or turning it off to use the machine's full firepower. Finally, it utilizes a Supercharger in its center torso to quickly get into an ambush position, chase down any stragglers, or perhaps retreat to cool off.
EDIT: Scratch that, I came up with a better loadout. This time it's got a Mace (right arm), Heavy PPC + Capacitor (left arm), 2 ER ML (1 per side torso), TSM, 4 JJs, and Endo Composite internal structure.

I don't want to sound too preachy here, but a few guidelines to follow while making this baby include:
  • It would probably be a humanoid with hand actuators, to suit its name and add a more intimidating silhouette.
  • I'm thinking that it would probably have its head shaped like a "gas mask" or something of the sort to make it look incredibly scary and impersonal when it uncloaks right behind you. Something to the effect of this:

or this:

You probably shouldn't copy either head exactly, they're just to give a general idea of the scary/badass mojo that this mech should have. An enemy should have a very bad time when a Black Hand is advancing on them.
  • Here is the critical slot layout of this mech, as it may prove useful:

Have at it! Note that there isn't any prize involved because I'm stingy, but I suppose that I can promise you 72 virgin Urbanmechs in the afterlife.

Busy working on paid work this weekend, but I'm itching to take a crack at this once the regular week resumes.

What's your feeling on the shape style of the WoB Celestial series? I'm thinking of blending some of their hard edges and tapered fins with your gas mask, but I know some people hate their look. It's always been very distinctively WoB to me, though.

I really feel the Celestials are definitively NOT battletechy.

Then they're perfect, because I really feel the WoB and Jihad aren't BattleTechy. :)

I decided that the loadout in the OP is kinda crappy, so I hashed together one that I hope is little bit more effective:
Posted Image

Mace, Heavy PPC + Capacitor, 2 ER Medium Lasers, TSM, and 4 JJs. Reduced armor to 12 tons (-0.5 tons).

I'd prefer the Mace to be more of a "flat" and sci-fi design than a classic medieval spikeball, sort of like the Berserker art:
Posted Image
--But probably with a longer handle and slightly thinner blade part. Perhaps like the Gravity Hammer from Halo, (with the sword side flattened into a longer and thinner version of the "hammer" side)?

well... did a quick concept. Afraid I can't take it further, overall, less commissioned. Problem with going into business. But hey, feel free to use the concept as you want if you like it.

It's based off the OP, so might not be what you are looking for. (sorry, change things midstream, you kinda leave us out to dry)

Holy {Scrap}, that's definitely an excellent rendition, and damn near spot-on. It just needs the new loadout and it's probably good to go. My only beefs are the light gray "spikes" being a little too long (particularly the back), and perhaps the arms being too short/thin at the bisceps and too long/thick at the forearms.

Did this a lil bit ago for you. What you think so far?

It's blurry so it's hard to tell from first glance. I think I'll stick with Bish's interpretation, but thanks for answering the call. :)

I'm -really- tempted to try drawing this thing, it sounds pretty sweet (although personally I liked the original load-out better, big fan of MG's XD). I may not be a match for Bishop, but all we can do is try, right? :)

Indeed. Well, used the Orion, Centurion and Packhunter as inspiration for the arms, felt they gave it more of a scary monster/bogeyman silhouette. Regardless, feel free to modify it as you like, be curious to see what occurs!

I don't have the skillz to draw much beyond stick figures, and I even struggle with those lol. All I can do is take it into G.I.M.P. and play with the proportions a bit, and perhaps paste in a few pre-made parts that might fit the mojo of your sketch. Maybe in like 2 weeks when this semester is done I'll try to tinker with it.

I might throw something at ya when I get a moment or two. Though my dance card is pretty full as of late.

yeah, I feel ya man. Unfortunately, I can't really go throwing finished stuff around for free no mo. Kinda bad for bidniz. (Even if I had the free time over all). I don't mind cranking out some stuff like this when inspiration hits (sometimes I need to do something like this when I hit a creative block on the paying work, just to loosen up the mind, and stop forcing things), but it's kinda back burner stuff now, sorry bro.

No need to be sorry; you took a few nondescript guidelines and managed to piece together the rest of the body to fit the mojo almost perfectly. You were able to build this in a cave, WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS (Iron Man reference). All I used to have in my head about the Black Hand was just that it would have the "gas mask" head, but now I can actually have a much more clear image of what it would really look like while uncloaking behind a poptart or something and smacking it in the back with a Mace or some VSPL to the face. You did a damn good job.

I'm not super amazing with line art but I do like the sound of this mech, and may give it a try. :)
