I do have to say, the Wolverine is probably one of the ugliest mechs, but in a good way. That little chin laser makes me think it has a gas mask on or something.

Exactly! Ugly, but cool ugly! (vs. the plain ugly of the Treb , for instance)

silly but the music does make this game 'feel' more rounded and complete and I like the way it fades on match start up, new map is good, I'm liking what sound new toso and arm gimble noises and the weeapon sounds on star base are intresting to say the least.

I think death match (skirmish) is the weakest mode, as I won't agree with anything that doesn't have a land objective, I still call it 'mode for the tactically incapable' but I haven't switched it off yet, so I suppose thats a positive.

before the patch I was al prepared to walk away once the premium had run down, but now I feel I might be here for the CW if there are no delays and its working by next sept/oct.

still not going to spend on new chasis but I would be happy to cough up MC for hero variants of existing chasis..

and I would probably weaken my resolve if a Zeus, Cylops, Banshee, or Urbanmech was launched.

but I still ain't buying that Clan claptrap

It has been that way for me for a while. It happened after I updated my graphics card driver. Oddly enough though, only Frozen City and the night version of Frozen City. All other maps are fine.

Happened to me patch before yesterday, repair does nothing.

Yea, I re-installed the game too. No change. The way the textures are applied on that map has to be wrong in one way or another. Now the graphics cards just don't like the textures.

I remember a long time ago they said something about shaders being the culprit here. The repair tool cleans out the shaders if I remember correctly. If that doesn't do the trick, you got me.

Good point about the music, it really does feel more "completed" and less of a test build of something. Having seen this same UI in Mechlab for more than a year and a half still makes me think "test build" for some reason. First impressions are last impressions I suppose.

As far as tactics go, I really like skirmish because it allows me to be the backstabber I've always wanted to be. Once battle lines develop, I go the long way around things and end up bagging 1-3 mechs on my own. Without a base to worry about defending should the battle line crumple, I can overextend much farther than on assault mode. I feel skirmish is more flexible in tactics than assault or conquest is.

I cant say enough about HPG manifold I too love the immersion factor. The music was pretty good too sort of a COD, Star Wars mix.

The music feels reminiscent of Mechcommander 2's menus.

Sucks that they have to pull engineers off of working on content to fix these patch issues.

I always liked the menu music in that one... not so much the game but when I think of Mechcommander that's usually the first sound I think of.

Kind of funny, the patch doesn't seem huge to me but looking at the Griffin and now with that music I for some reson was reminded of Wing Commander. I guess that's a good thing ;)

I love the Wolverine now too. I think it's going to be one of my go-to mechs. It might look as ugly as a brick, but it's an endearing ugly that I can appreciate deeply. It's supposed to be a hardy, functional, not-asthetically-pleasing machine. If this were Gundam, it'd be the Zaku II. And I respect that.

It's surprisingly tanky for a medium; ran a match that, I swear at least 5 times I should have been stripped armourless, and then I glance at my HUD and see I've still got more than 75% armour left on all parts.

One thing I noticed that made me giddy was that they made the cockpit just as described in the description of the Wolverine on Sarna.net . While you have a nice front window, the cockpit has a kind of limited view, and the structure of the cockpit makes it very cramped on the pilot (just like the canon). I know some think the Locust has a cramped cockpit, but considering it's built more like a dashboard, I can't call it cramped. Wolverine has that whole 'I got shoved into a locker with some controls' feel to it. Perfect.

It's NVIDIA trolling us, that's why :P You see that big logo at the start of the game...taunting us AMD people.

Happens me too with a GTX 680 Nvidia, previously never had any kind of texture issues now Frozen city it's a permanent Grey facade.

Its not the brand, I don't think the issue is the video cards. Back in Closed Beta we had the same issue for months and they eventually found out it was shaders.

I'm thinking its the same thing here.

I am quite enjoying playing after this patch, not seeing much assault mechs and more medium mechs...

Is this a coincidence?

It kind of does, not any modern one but WC is rooted in WWII concepts so maybe that's what hit me. I miss those space-sims. Hopefully not for much longer :)
