I have to agree, the price is mostly irrelevant. The prices are consistent with what else they offer, the lock-in might be a bit ... dubious. But in the end, if that is w hat the market will pay and it seems to high to me, maybe I am not part of the market and that's it.

The reason why I am questioning it and have doubts spending any amount of money on their game right now is that they failed to prove that they can achieve their goals and timelines. We have clear evidence that they miss their deadlines and stuff they said would be done isn't done.

Since the usual comparison these days is always Star Citizen...
Star Citzen hasn't delivered a game yet, but they delivered on a few promises (Hangar Module, whether you deem it useful or not, I don't), and the rest that was promised is still far out. We don't know if they'll manage in the end. But we still have a reason to believe they might, because they didn't fail any objectives.

I would actually be willing to argue that the Dogfight modus delay is finally some counter-evidence and give reason to doubt, but that is a new development. You can't blame people for spending their Founder's money on MW:O or their kickstarter funding on Star Citizen because at that point, we all knew it was on faith but had no concrete reason for doubt.

I somewhat agree with this.

The answer to why PGI has grossly underestimated the time frame on development delivery of pretty much of every feature they have announced can't be good.

The answers range from incompetent management, poor resource management, publishers (IGP) pushing PGI into focusing on monetizing the game rather than feature development, or outright BS stringing the playerbase along for a ride.

There is absolutely no good excuse that can be given for the years off estimations of their target deadlines. Either way heads would roll.

good read.

main issue: not the pricing but this whole "90 days till cs" into "not a single line of code written" twist coupled with the license thing leads me to the conclusion that i was bullshittet a couple of times to often :)
smells like fraud.

Considering what's at stake, they won't, but they will probably miss everything else.

Yea this is my concern. We got a little shift, or at least seemed to, when PP was being touted. A little more communication, a little more promise of feature implementation. Then once the sale was over............... back to business as usual.
They'll have to prove beyond UI2.0 deadline for my money

Associations, Launch module, and most importantly by far: Achievements.

Then I'm getting my gold mech (which now comes with the Masarati package!!).

They upgraded the gold packs???
That makes a lot more sense to me.
I'll have to wait and see before I drop my $240 though. That's equivalent to 4 new titles so I have to see something that shows me it's worth sacrificing 4 other games to spend here when I can jsut continue playing for free. Plus they have plenty of time before June to change my mind.

Yup. Those damn Joystiq-ers. I probably lost out on my chance for that scoop ;)
Regardless, I've contacted PGI to see if they're willing to do an interview, so, as they say, you never know.

Thanks again to everybody who read the article :(
