Devs should totally be running events instead of fleshing out features.

Not sure if sarcastic or serious.

The closest to PGI running events like tourneys, they've stopped doing altogether. It's not as if they created a good system in the first place.

With features, we have movement changes aka "pebbles of steel" that got its own thread because of how much of an effect it has (and still has) on this game. There hasn't been any refinements to that, outside of the useless Hill Climb module which is virtually useless unless you are a non-JJ capable light (and even then, it's not worth the 15k GXP to use it).

So, yea. Congrats to succeeding at neither.

Brilliant observation, Nekki. And if you ignore the fact that Valve actually did accept cash store transactions during their betas, you are 100% totally right.

More like "PGI is fail for not doing an awesome reveal event", but ignoring the fact that doing so would be totally impractical, and would make a lot of people mad.

Maybe the OP's ideas are impractical, but the Clan Invasion is probably the most significant event in BT lore. Many players were looking forward to interacting with BT history. Remember the "1day=1 day" idea? Remember the fake news blurbs about communication being disrupted in the Periphery? Remember the Devs stating that certain planets would not be fought over due to basically 'story reasons'? While their positions may have changed, it really seemed that their initial stance would be that CW would happen while BT history unfolded around us. Having 2 years of speculation on CW and Clans come down to 'The Clans are invading...with sweet deals!' is really underwhelming.

I really don't think that anybody would mind being utterly destroyed in-game if it was done in the manner of the OP.
To be a part of those first few Clan battles would be an honour for most of the people who've taken the time to download this game.

Yeah, get a cockpit item for being killed by a Dev in a Clan mech. ;)

I remember right after launch (or was it Open Beta? I can't remember) 8 of us just finished patching and launched into our first match. Due to some glitch, there was no opposing team! So we were forced to go across Forest Colony to get a cap win to end the match. People were saying, wouldn't it be great if a MadCat just wandered out from under the bridge in front of us? If there was a Clan team that just showed up? Yeah, it would have been great.

My question is if devs started dropping in clan mechs tomorrow, would that make you change your reviews of MWO to something higher then 3/10?
No because it takes more than "dropping in clan mechs tomorrow" to fix the fundamental problems with the game and promote the brand. Before you respond with, "Hey nothing would make you happy then!" keep in mind that the OP was not designed to fix everything that is wrong with the game. It was intended to offer an alternative to a less than stellar handling of one aspect of the game.

Also, you keep claiming that the OP is impractical, yet do not explain how. Surely someone with dev experience such as yourself can clearly explain it to all the people in here who you claim have none.

Yea,all that would have been pretty awesome. But,unfortunately MW/BT got picked up by a bargain bin {Scrap} game dev instead of a real team whose cranium exist outside of their posterior.

It is impractical for precisely the reason you say it does nothing to fix the fundamental problems with the game - because without currently nonexistent infrastructure (CW, voice*, etc.) the event would amount to nothing more then devs dropping into a few matches while piloting clan mechs.

*Just thought of another issue with your event. C3 voice only connects you into a room with your team, not the other team. So, for the clan mechs to RP with the IS mechs, some other voice solution would be needed. I am all for a MW2 style command system be added into the game, with taunts to shout at the other team, depending on your chosen faction... but... that falls into the realm of wishful thinking.

So, your point is the following:
Don't bother.
Give up.
Zero effort.

Considering that is the state of CW, the mere fact that the actual suggestion from mint frog is essentially "how about give us a reason to be interested outside of 'here is a new sale'?", you don't even want to try something (or even attempt) that they have pretty much failed at before? Well, I guess that'll be thoroughly enjoyable. We should be looking forward to the "lore" for the next hero mech. That'll be exciting like watching paint dry.

No, my point is they should be spending all of their time/effort into building things that will actually make mintFrog change his review of the game to something higher then 3/10. ^^

They should hire the OP and retro-actively pay him a years salary for being more imaginative than the "lets build a premium mech and sell it" people they currently have that are trying to promote this game.

Well done!

I never meant to imply the voice coms to be actual voice, rather typed out text. Also, CW isn't needed for the OP plan. UI2.0 is supposed to be in coming February, so that's a given so long as we're not being lied to about how complete it is/isn't.

Somehow I doubt you'd support what I'd want done to the game to fix it.

This would be great of course. But they're obviously not doing this. And while doing it the shi*ty way, they could've at least done it cooler lol. ;)

Maybe. I want MWO to be a 3d version of 3030 MUX, where you spend most of your time on foot walking around your base. Just think of all the cash shop items they could sell, if they could sell costumes for your pilot and decor for your quarters.

You missed out:

May 6th, due to terrible playing practices and poor teamwork, employees in clan mechs get rolled by a competitive clan/team despite the 6x armour advantage.
Forums erupt, Russ cancels clan invasion for 2 months while he implements complex system that bans teamwork.
System inadvertently breaks heat scale for PPC's and somehow makes all LRM's target the cockpit.

You mean a rehash of the PGI 8-man feed with the hilarious statement of "Paul, the game is broken."?

Why not? Can't have enough humor.

Well to be fair, he did take them having to use godmode to pull it off into account.

I'm still waiting for you to show how EVERY game company bungles things as badly as PGI or have you given up on that one. Are you changing the subject because you can't answer? I'm sure you're not since you didn't say you were changing the subject, so you must be busily goggling things to prove it.
