Web programmers? People who make the web site do not make the game.
Software engineers? They work on unix backends for hosting said web site.

Planners? Yeah. Financial planners.
Nintendo WA is a game publisher, not a game developer.

Nintendo WA has game devs on site. I was one. Stop trolling my thread.

Conclusion : This is a clear example of the Dunning Kruger effect in action.
Yes, your post is a clear example of it. Thank you for providing me with the punchline so I didn't have to think of one myself.

Oh hey, who's insulting people? I certainly wasn't. I was in fact complimenting you. Because, you see, your belief that these things are beyond you actually means that they totally aren't, because Dunning-Kruger.

I honestly expected something like this at first. Over time I realized it could never be because someone would whine about OP devs ruining their KDR.

Except Russ is a professional game developer who has actually shipped a professional game.
Anyone else can make that claim here? No? Lol, Ok then.
Continue talking about how much better you are at making games then Russ, even tho you have no clue what you are doing.

I like how you went right from asking a question to giving yourself the answer and then being smug about it, even though my unit alone is full of software industry professionals from entertainment, commercial, and government sectors.

Hello Mr. xhrit:

If you wish to take the position that "only game developers can really talk about game development," so be it.

Until you provide this thread with conclusive proof of your accomplishments regarding the written word, and just so we are clear, I'll need a photo with your Government issued ID, a copy of today's paper, and Book you've written and had published.

Until then, by your own rubric, you have to stop writing. That makes sense, right? Because otherwise, you'd be using a medium you're not qualified to talk about.

And just in case you're too busy frantically stabbing at the keyboard in reply, let me sum up this thread for you:

So did anyone else notice that the OP isn't a development post but is actually a design post? If he's shifting goalposts I am too, and you can't stop me!

Somewhere there is a picture of this thread that Heffay is slowly fading out of. Soon I won't be able to even play this guitar.

Anyhow, jeez, I can't believe they're not running any kind of surprise event. Surely at least a couple of the clan mechs are complete at this point, and could have been cheated into a match just to generate some "You won't believe what I just saw!" word of mouth excitement. This could have all gone so dramatically differently. Even some photoshopped "broken camera" stills of clan dropships offloading unfinished chassis would have been great.

I miss when Inner Sphere News as actually telling me about cool in-universe events and the site had cool short stories about the battlemechs themselves all the time. These days, the Inner Sphere News has been taken over by telemarketers who just want to sell me paintjobs and trinkets.

Anyway, back on topic.

With the horse out of the barn, what about the idea of gifting the Kit Fox to accounts that have been inactive for more than two months in order to lure players back to the game?

With all the new content on the horizon, getting their attention back in any way possible couldn't be a bad thing...

Even more interesting would be giving it to them immediately albeit temporarily, assuming one of the lighter mechs is prepared enough for that. The warriors who once left the Inner Sphere return in mechs with uncanny firepower and agility! Sort of like a mech rental as a promotion until the end of the year, final delivery with the rest of the packs.

Of course the Clan Mechs cat is out of the bag already and all over the various news sites, so you won't get the same level of surprise, but I think seeing a clanner running around your match suddenly would be really shocking. Especially to those who have missed the news so far.

It's kinda fallen the route of the History Channel, nobody wants information anymore just NEW HOTNESS COLORS!

Even though the package is out, there are a lot of details that still need to be released. An ARG or something similar can still be executed to get people foaming at the mouth over bits of details. Stories crafted much like the OP mentioned, but centered around release of balance info, or warhorn details.

It's never too late. This is the perfect kind of thing to outsource as well.

ya know it wouldnt be to late for them to do something like this towards the eve of the release. Admitedly I loved reading the concept idea, I know I would have been chomping at the bit for something like this.

Upvoted purely for the sake of someone form pgi maybe reading it and throwing this idea out there?

Perhaps it'll be kept in mind as we roll towards the Word of Blake and Dark Ages. We can battle against Agromechs that take clix damage.

What they should do is wait until CW is out, totally, and then gift a single mech of choice (one option from each class) to all accounts. That would serve to pull back in many, many, players after the game is significantly improved.
