Actually, the most fun Im having with these threads is purely comming from Schadenfreude. Go back in the forum history and you will find loads of threads of countless players compaining that they were sick and tired of being capped by honourless scumbags in Assault and that Assault should mean no one shuold be able to cap... yad yada yada.
Every time someone defnded capping saying that without the bases to end a game you would end up with everyone bringing the biggest mechs they could and that there would be a danger of the last light mechs hiding until the timer ran out.

Well. then we come to this thread and quite a few similar ones... guess what? Im enjoying them and laughing about all those know-it-all users who were crying to big daddy PGI to "FIX THESE EXPLOITING CAPPERS NAO!!!!11ONEELEVEN" while completely ignoring all warnings are now the same ones crying that what was warned about is now happening.

But please keep it short... my popcorn is starting to run out.

Stif, im not arguing with you. Ill just report you if i see it. have a nice day

No just no.
The matches are set for 15 minutes. If you don’t/can’t wait 15 minutes OR go play a match in your other mech. That’s your problem!

<---This. END OF STORY!

Stif is correct though. It was posted by a MOD that If i fight for 10 minutes then go hide, I have not broke the rules of engagement. So If you are going to report a player, be sure they have one Zero damage in game. Otherwise you are wasting your time.

I would like an in game "ignore" filter that prevents dropping with those players in order that I can avoid playing with timewasting idiots. The bocked filter could be expanded to incorporate this by allowing users to be added ad-hoc and matchmaking rules put in place.
So these time wasting idiots are making your Game(a time wasting activity) no fun.

If they fought at all they have engaged the enemy an your fury is moot.

You wanted a no Cap game mode... You have been given a no cap game mode.

You now reap what you have sown. ;)

LOL non participation rule again. You’re reading into it and adding your own rules.

If a mech has dmg, kills, assists. They participated. The rule says nothing about "no hope of victory"

You have NO IDEA if a light is looking for an opening, looking for the most dmg enemy, trying to spit the enemy up. Either way, report them because you’re going to get reported. I can see it now. You to PGI... but bbuuut they did something I did not like first. PGI to you, two wrongs don’t make a right you should have reported them have a nice vacation. ;)

The reality of the situation is there are no absolute solutions. You cannot design a -simple- system that will punish the right people and not catch the innocent in the crossfire... It would take a complex system with multiple variables being considered to properly sort through the situation.

As far as player interactions go, I cant say "Use your best judgement" as many people make the wrong decision, coming to the worst conclusion based on past experiences - they assume the worst. The fact of the matter is not everyone that powers down is trying to avoid death and not everyone that runs away is doing so to simply survive the match. Sometimes people think and act tactically and unfortunately they get thrown to the wolves since their teammates, and opponents, assume the worst.

The best decision would be support them as best you can in a morally acceptable manner. Whether their actions still end defeat, this specific set of people do still try and deserve a chance to try, even if their efforts result in an extra kill or two on the enemy and ultimate defeat - do not assume the motives of others prematurely.

I wonder how many people wasting time in Skirmish matches are people who threw their toys out of the pram when the TDM crowd posted requests for TDM game-mode?
I know for a fact I can find several quotes from people stating that if TDM is introduced they will troll it.

To everyone saying "You know the match is 15 minutes long, if you don't want to wait don't drop or go play Assault/Conquest." - If you know you're joining a match where you have to fight, you should be prepared to do so. If you don't want to fight, don't drop or go play Assault/Conquest.

I'm all for a 15 minute match where the last few mechs start getting guerilla and setting up ambushes - that's in the spirit of the game, watching a lone light play keep-away or inspecting rock textures is not - you know you're being a ponce and I know you're being a ponce, so does everyone else in the match.

You've got *two* other game-modes with your "tactical" objectives, by all means go and enjoy them and let the Skirmish fans enjoy their single game-mode.

The solution is simple. matches last 15 minutes. You have at least 4 mechs to play with. No one is forcing you to wait around and watch awesome happen. Sorry some of you are so low in elo you dont get to see the last light bring home a win but thats not the fault of us that do it and get to see it. If you dont want to wait 15 minutes maybe a different game would be better for you.

Again matches are 15 minutes long. Spooky talking ghosts dont get to determine what the living do or do not do.

Please go and find a single post where I have complained about people capping out. This has *never* been a problem to me personally. Or is this some sort of "royal you" directed to people in general?

The royal. I quote the sentiment. If Capping is no problem(ending a game quickly) then Waiting out the clock should be acceptable also(patience). To many people are narrow minded, and can only accept things in certain ways.

If I Cap (not often in an Atlas), come and get me, I really cant get away.
If I hide from you, Come find me if you can, I already killed 2 of your team.
If I fight toe to toe, One of us is going to lose!

I only have 3. :)

But your point is spot on. If you are dead and you don't like waiting. Quit the Match and launch in another Match in another Mech.

To be completely correct about this, Egomane is only a moderator (as you had noted). For his statement to be completely valid and binding, it would have to be made by a GM or a staff member. But as long as it is not revoked by a PGI staffmember, it stays the most official statement on this question.

Im on your side. I just wanted to make that point completely clear regarding the pending nature validity of Egomanes statement ( meaning it is valid untill someone from PGI makes a different statement).

Btw, For your information; The Minnesota Tribe is more of an Anti-Clan after the anihalation of the Wolverines (probably still being sympathetic/respectfull/friendly to the Ghost Bears though). We see ourselves as being in the front lines to stop the clan invasion once (if) it starts in CW.

True but they were forged out of Wolverines. I love the Adders personally, but had we had the Wolverine's story back in the day... That would be different.

Again matches are 15 minutes long. Spooky talking ghosts dont get to determine what the living do or do not do.

This is it in a nutshell. If your dead stay constructive or SILENT! You played the game your way and died. Allow any survivors the option of finishing the match in any way they like. (Within the Actual code of conduct that is)

A single Mech especially a Light Mech can have some great impact on Late game if they can pick their moment to strike. Oh sure some will give up and hide in hole; possible to troll, possibly over a misguided KDR fetish, nobody thinks thats good play do they? But, irritating play happens, get over it its at worst 15 mins of your life gone.

Tell you what, in an effort to be constructive. How 'bout we ask the ever attentive (heavy sarcasm) devs to consider a Discovery Bonus. For Mechs that come across shut down Mechs and blow chunks off them. If that were implemented then if your playing the waiting game and somebody gets ya then they get a small buff to their earnings/score making it worth the while of Captain frustrated to go hunt the hiding last man standing down. Need to apply a bonus only to a Mech that shoot someone that was was powered down for say 15-30 secs to avoid giving away points to those that pop an heat shutdowner in the midst of battle.

With a Mechanic like this it becomes a little better to go down in a blaze of glory than to play peek a boo, your potentiall giving the opposing team more score if they find you after all. Or maybe a simpler "solution" is to have a Penalty if your still shut down when the match ends, provided you have had at least 30+ seconds. Regardless whenever you make a mechanic up there will be some way to abuse it.

Its just a game chill and don't be a deliberate [Richard Cameron]

Caswallon gallops off on his High Horse at this point to the tune of "Always look on the bright side of life....." /irony

Players cried about being outcapped in assault-mode for months (maybe years).
Now PGI listened to them and gave them a "Deatchmatch-Only"-mode without any chance to cap, and now the players are crying because of the last enemy mech is hiding? that's maybe one of the most stupid things i ever saw from this playerbase.
This community is known for their crying and rioting against PGI, and most of the points are true, but this time? PGI did (for the first time? not sure?) what the players wanted, and now it's wrong... come on, please.

To clarify things a bit... every cap-loss in assault happens because a tactical mistake was made by your team, and that's it. To be honest, i got angry myself sometimes, when i just arrived at the front and got the "warning, base under attack"-thingy 5 seconds later... i told the enemy to get off my effing base or i will kill them (what i did often). But to be honest, it was a tactical mistake by my team letting the enemy go to our base, period.

So now we have skirmish, and players call their own teammember's position out to the enemy? well, in assault, you could just go to the enemy base with you whole team and cap it in 30 seconds, and thats it. But the players didn't want that, because they wanted to play deathmatch.

In my first match in skirmish-mode, the last position of my last teammember alive was given to the enemy team in the second it was clear he is trying to hide. i instantly took screenshots and reported both guys who called out the position. and trust me, i will do this with everyone who does this, and if i have to write 50 emails to support per day, so it will be.

you wanted deathmatch without tactics, so deal with it now!

If you can't find or catch the last light mech in skirmish, stop taking all assault and heavies and you'll have a better chance.

As for giving away friendly location, bar an actual afk or DC'd mech, I'll do my bit for reporting. I don't expect IGP to ever take action against them. It took like 3 months to ban 1 account back in the AFK cbill farm epidemic> remember it took an actual PGI dev to personally ban Kevin Anchor huehuehue
