should v-sync be on or off to minimizes crash chances?

Run full screen and v-sync off

if you have an issue with the fps running too high creating excess heat on your video card you can add one of these lines to your user cfg. some people have said with the sys_budget line they notice the fps dips aren't as dramatic.

sys_MaxFPS = 60

or

sys_budget_fps = 60

I put it on in game options. and play full screen yes. Video card settings are application controlled. I only force single gpu mode. and threaded optmizations and I play on low settings with AA off.

Then try all the steps I told you.

vsync off and fullscreen didnt work for me.

i did vsync on, full window, didn't alt tab and didn't change loadout and it seems to work, will edit this post over time to see if it was just a lucky streak.

edit: 2 games and then a streak of blackscreens, i did it exactly the same as before. i guess i'm not participating in the event this weekend..

edit 2: the only thing i've noticed that helps for no blackscreens is that you don't tamper with the mechlab at all, select a mech and play, don't change colors or loadout or modules, nothing. once I did it went back to black screen. this could be a resolved problem by now, but i'm not willing to risk it for a while.

edit 3: the problem still persists, didn't change anything and it came back. **** this bug.

I guess you didn't do a system restore, use guru3d driver sweeper in safe mode, reboot download and install a driver two versions previous......run repair tool, disable UPNP and SSDP discovery service, give your pc a static IP address, disable netbios over tcp, ipv6, disable all windows power settings on your gpu, and w/e else i forgot. Force settings to single gpu and threaded optimization, Never hit any keys during the black screen transition, don't even talk on mic.

nope and I won't since it worked fine till a few days back and I haven't done any changes to my files.

my friend said that when this happened to me I wasn't even shown in the player rooster at the start of the match, so i'm guessing its a network problem, but since then I switched networks 3 times and I've been getting this error on and off on every network.

I guess i'll try to do some network repairs or sth on my pc.

edit: nothing works, sometimes i get match after match after match, but now its back to every 2nd match is a black screen, no matter what I do.

made a support ticket, this is enough.

edit 2: seems to have been a router problem, upgraded the firmware and will see how it goes.

I get this now. It's gotta be a connection issue thing. I never had it until I went wireless ( wife made me do it..grrr ) so router is upstairs and my wireless system is downstairs. I get great ping but there are gaps in TeamSpeak and sometimes I see lag in game but ping will still report 45-60 in game. I never had black screens until this setup as before I moved I had my system always directly connected by cat5 cable. Anyways, while annoying, I just do the kill task and restart game as soon as it happens. I usually join the game right when we start so glad PGI added that REJOIN awhile back.

I had the same issue yesterday when I tried to switch from dx9 to dx11 (64 bit win7)
Black screen and no chance to get into the game.
Solved..rebooting...switched back to 32 bit....logged into game...changed back to dx9..
Exited game..restarted the 64 bit client.
No more black screen since then.
my 2 cents
