As for those Romney players who have no sympathy for us 47%ers, well, there is probably no answer they would listen to, "let them eat cake".

Newsflash, if you've bought founders, PP, and MC, you're a "Romney" player

I thought everyone knew that the videogame license for Battletech was at Microsoft.

This founder only bought into the game because ti was a Mechwarrior game, I don't care who holds the license.

I don't think anyone knew how long the license agreement lasted and I am surprised to hear it would have ended so soon. It makes me wonder whether this is genuinely somethnig that makde PGI not invest as much effort or money as they could, because they had to break even next year and heavy investments would make that unlikely. A few extra years might help.

I think the reason it seemed so short was the fact that PGI 'attempted' to create MW5, but got shut-down by Harmony Gold due to the Warhammer. Thus they went "well if we can't build a new Mechwarrior title, how about a MMO style platform"... hence the short turn around for a minimum viable product, resulting in the production of a crase product that we have now with as much monetized and expensive content that the playerbase is willing to swallow.

Once they noticed they could reap huge sums of cash for very little content or game progression, then they extended (afterall they must've made quite a small sum of money to date).

Nope.. harmony gold might have gotten pissy but that was not the reason. The reason Mechwarrior 5 never happened according to PGI was that no one wanted to publish a niche genre like Mechas in the west that was Xbox/PC exclusive.

All the big publishers wanted it to be released on PS4 too, minimum. So thats why IGP was founded, partially by the bigwigs at PGI so they could create a game on their own terms. This was all explained by the guys at PGI themselves.

And about harmony gold.. if they really had sued, the video would have been taken down from PGIs youtube channel years ago. Yet it still exists and still generates add revenue. Also i have never seen any proof of Harmony gold actually threatening to sue PGI... all that ever came along where half baked rumors.

Heck harmony gold could claim the video as their own content right now with youtubes new fucktastic broken content claim software.

Now on topic:

Once again Russ treats his own customers like dump peasants that should be glad that their rightfull king even graces them with the oportunity to buy all these items for complete fantasy prizes that lack any base in reality, but atleast he now gives us more options on how we can fill his comfy cushion with our dollar or euro bills. And the voices from the dirty unwashed masses that decry the kingdoms sales policies? Just the usual rabble...

Of the players who purchased the Phoenix Project pre-orders, only about 200 of them actually requested refunds of out 30,000 packages sold.

Cool, I belong to the 0.5%, who knew? I thought that number would have been higher...

I think it's wrong that you embarrassed Mr. Bullock like that by posting his embarrassing comment for everyone to see. Most likely he didn't understand the full ramifications of his words. So best to leave it off-site--I think that's what Mr. Bullock intended and would want.

Omg, whales everywhere... They reduce the cost of a gold skin from 500$ to 260$ and lots of people are cheering...

whales are unquestionably runing the industry... Too many idiots with too much money rewarding sub par devs that produce sub par games with dollar values that exceed the cost of 4 AAA titles... For what? For a game that's still in beta in all but name...

Idiots everywhere.

But seriously, the Clan 'Mechs will be available for C-Bill purchase.

Knowhatimeanvern?

It doesn't matter if they will be available for C-Bill purchase, it's going to be months of waiting for 8 Mech's and will require an even worse grind to buy them all with C-Bills. Oh well, looks like we have 6 months to grind up enough to buy them, probably gonna take about 300 million in order to buy all of them. Had they made each Mech set $30 each rather then force you to buy a package, I'd probably buy a few sets because I can't justify the kind of money for a decent package that they are asking.

Just curious about this

Ok so you uninstalled. You're denying yourself the game. What does that prove to PGI since you could just as easily keep the game installed and play completely for free. It's the exact same result to PGI. I jsut don't understand the whole "I uninstalled, that'll teach em a lesson!" mentality. Uninstalling the game has no more effect on on PGI than just playing it as a free player and still not giving them any money

Just wanted to state that people, like myself, who refuse to play this game (or any other) make our point by not being a part of PGI or any other companies metrics.

If anyone plays a game when they see it going in a direction they 'feel' is not measuring up to what that company stated, those players will be included in the 'happy customer metrics'. The company views people logging in and playing as a happy player base.

So if I was to surmise why he/she uninstalled it is because he/she is not a 'happy customer' and refuses to be lumped into a group of people just because he/she is playing a product while at is core is fun, but is slowing turning into a product that is just a cash grab with no real reachable development goals.

Just a guess though...

Probably one of the 200 people who asked for a refund for their Project Phoenix package, out of the 30,000 who bought it.

Just a guess though...

Pretty much nailed it. Which is why I wish they would cut back on the attempts to reduce the PC requirements for the low setting. If you are trying running this on a Wolfdale dual core and 2 gigs of DDR2 on XP 32-bit.... its time you go find a game more your PC's speed. Try minecraft....

(On the other hand, PGI will always grope as low as they can go just in case a few of those peeps spend a dollar or two.)

It's too bad this isn't a mainstream western comedy, because it'd fit too well.

Act 1: A down and out software company stumbles onto a niche license they hold for only 2 years, and figure they can prop it to life long enough to make some money. To their surprise, they make millions and get to living the good life - vacations all around!

Act 2: The money runs out and their license gets unexpectedly renewed, leaving them behind schedule and hated world around. At this point Paul & Russ can have a fight and we can have a few montages of how their life slides down with them.

Act 3: Thanks to hiring that plucky new programmer, they all come back together in a group effort to make good on their license, realizing now that there was more to it than a short turn lazy project and how with just a little work, everything can still work out. But will it be too late? Of course not, because this is a comedy.

Yea, it's free to play

...so no.

Plus you have a computer that can run games so, welcome to the upper middle baby! Where life is average to slightly-above-average
