NOPE.
It's just $500,00. :P

Did you account for the inflation between now and Fry's time (The Year 3,000something?)?

Funny thing, I'm counted as the poor class and got both.

That may one reason why you are poor. Seriously, compulsive consumption does not help you get rich. Don't believe the soap operas.

240$ is simply way above my willingness to pay and what I get is not worth it in my opinion. As you can see from my tags, I have already given PGI a bunch of money. I not only expect delivery of promised content, but also affordable virtual goods. The Maskari package is neither. Nor are the single clan purchases as they are much too expensive. Half the price on everything and discount on packages with more mechs (basic pricing procedure but I guess PGI does not employ any economists).

I really wonder how long one of those golden mechs will survive on the battlefield. Most likely cause of death: accidental friendly fire.

That's the whole reason to get one! There is a meta game involved here: You pvp my gold mech, and I'll pvp your account. ;)

You won't have to worry about that with the size of the bounties that will be placed on your head lol

I believe you missed the part where income determines your class, not how much you spend.

I hope they publish the bounty list. I will troll day and night to get to the top!

There are many meta games. This will be mine.

Yea, it's free to play ...so no. Plus you have a computer that can run games so, welcome to the upper middle baby! Where life is average to slightly-above-average

A free to play game with a worse time sink to try and get anywhere then any MMO to date. The amount of grinding is absurd, whether you have premium time or not, and to be honest the premium time is useless because even then the advantages aren't enough to be worth the cash you have to spend. PGI has done little to justify Hero Mech's and that absurd pricing structure, or to warrant people buying premium time or the Clan Mech package. A lot of us bought the Phoenix Project with the hopes that some measure of UI 2.0 and CW would be coming with it, but most of us were disappointed and left with nothing more then a bunch of Mech's when we didn't get either and were left with more empty promises.

Wouldn't it be pretty easy to exhaust the cash reserves of anyone trying to grief you by suiciding over and over until they stopped placing bounties on you? Even if they reinstate R&R you could use an unrepaired spider or something (or a minimally repaired one, or whatever mech is cheapest to repair, with whatever loadout is cheapest to fix),

Funny thing it shows you got your priorities all screwed up if that's what you're spending money on it might explain why you're poor. As a wise man once said "A fool and his money are lucky enough to come together in the first place".

And a smart man said "Wise and intelligent men know that they, too, are children and fools, but make grand effort to cure themselves of such naivety."

See, waxing philosophy is pointless and has a counter-quote to damn near everything. If you wanted to make a point, then you could have mentioned that he could have invested that money instead of spending it on a virtual product for which there will unlikely be a return; although gaming as a hobby is pretty costly and unfruitful. My suggestion is go ahead and count yourself in that "fool" category, bud.

Do you even know where that quote comes from? Obviously, you can count yourself amongst the fools. Wise men know not to bother making points on the internet and stick to making jokes. My suggestion don't try to philosophize on a gaming forum.

I think that's one of the points. It adds a money sink to those with tons of cash. I just hope the target gets a piece of the pie any time they survive a collection attempt.

It would be cool if they had a system like this in place:
I put a 1 million bounty on Heffay
Any players can collect but in order to do so they must post 10% of the bounty to take part in the hunt. If they fail to collect then the target collects the 10% for themselves. It would be fun I think

Wouldn't that lead to epic c-bill boosting?

I don't see how it could really.
I'm out 1 million c-bills
The player looking to collect either collects the c-bill reward or the victim collects the 10%. There's no boosting because it's not a matter of earning new c-bills as much as moving them around and sinking them. If 10 people try to collect and fail then the target gains a million bucks but those failed hunters are also out a million collectively. Meanwhile the player who places the bounty still has a million tied up in the bounty.
I'd also make it so that the bounty cannot be cancelled once placed. So If you want to drop 20 million on a bounty for me you're out that money regardless.
The rewards and such could be adjusted because the number I threw out are just for example purposes

No, see... a whole bunch of your clanmates place a bounty on your head, then continually drop with you and protect you, allowing you to get the final blows over and over and over. Then you end up with a kajillion c-bills with little to no risk.

If they made it so you couldn't do it with clanmates, alt accounts would come into play... if not, then inter-clan collusion :).

Ahhhh I see what you're getting
Maybe if they had a system setup where only other factions could set it up and collect it. Alts wouldn't matter then either.

Yep, we definitely need less players in the game.

But I am not sure if the whole idea of Gold Team Kills isn't dumb anyway. I certainly wouldn't bother, I'd rather play an actual match, and I figure a lot of people will feel the same.

Every game needs fewer griefers. And it probably won't be insta-bans anyway; a nice week long timeout will help reinforce to certain people that yes, there are indeed consequences to their actions. And if they keep it up anyway, how is losing those people bad for the game?

Gold mechs will make the community stronger by eliminating the people we want around the least.

Edit: 3000 posts! How about that?
