Since the latest patch the long awaited music has been one of the best features added into the game. While we won't get music in battle due to it being a little bit distracting, the ambient computer beeps and environments SFX make up for it.

What I would like to see in the future is different music for each faction within the game and for it to fit their theme. For example when you first spawn into a match as a certain faction you will hear a short 30 second intro. Just like what we have now but more personalized towards that faction.

You can look at games which do this today such as Planetside with the 3 different factions having their own very unique music. Or (Please don't flame and put my head on a stick) the Call of Duty games with how each different team you play as has their own theme when you spawn into game.

Question is, what kind of theme do you think each faction within Mechwarrior online should have?

I'm not sure faction based music is a good idea as it will reinforce, or come into conflict with people preceptions, of what each faction represents

I'm not sure on that. If you read the lore on the faction such as House Kurita, it says about them following a strict Japanese code and how they resemble Japan during the shogun era. Maybe a traditional song theme for this which captures this. I don't know any songs which I can give as an example to try and tell you what I mean.

House Kurita yes has its ancestry in what is now called Japan. In about 2650, National Learning,” which stressed Japan’s ancient.

history in its curriculum. Then Buddhism and Confucianism

gained renewed membership after years of decline, as did

the martial arts, especially the Ways of the Sword and

Bow. Needless to say, the idea of

Bushido

, the Way of the

Warrior. (taken from the house kurita source book)

Note the word stressed, and not strict. and the words gained renewed, popularity.

House Kurita is not the Draconis Combine, the combine is as multicultural and multi-national as any of the great super powers in the I.S.

The Free Rasalhague Republic would never have existed if Japanese culture was as dominant as your suggesting

Played today and later caught myself humming the mwo music. Enjoying it.

As to the discussion on adding flavor to factions via music... I see what Cathy is saying. And I agree. Same time I feel so lore-starved in the game. Cathy, with love, I'd give them a chance to put in some music (talking?) that we listen to pre-match to get pumped about defending kurita territory and whatever. Or attacking rival house territory. There's the potential to be heavy-handed and lose some of the complexity of the lore, but let's take the risk.

Planetside didnt do a good job with the music for all the factions, top of the list of faults with that game actually. Since I am in MW forum i wont say if its good or bad, just saying, bad example for music.
