One thing I liked about mechwarrior was mech configurations. I would like to play around in a lab to test out mech configurations or perhaps even enhancing current mechs in a garage. More than anything I would really like to see diverse configurations. Perhaps depending on playstyle or maybe options. What I would like to not see are 'cookie' cutter mechs because that's the so called best configuration. I have some ideas of course that could enhance this idea, because I believe a person playing a more personalized mech will play it better especially if they like playing the mech.
One of the comments that caught my attention that a user made was there will be a place for light and medium mechs. That alone makes me want to play it now. I've played mechwarrior from it's first release (I'm more of the simulation than the strategy so some of it will be a learning experience for me) but I always liked trying different configurations and one of its greatest appeals is customizing a mech that fits the pilot. Something of this nature should really be put on the table if not now, sometime in the future. I'm a programmer so I know the task that lies ahead to program such a game with a heavy burden of expectation.
I would also like to add, lawsuits don't benefit anyone except the lawyers. A mech is a mech is a mech. zi would really appreciate this game keeps going so I can enjoy piloting a mech in battle, I wanna use a particle accelerator as a WEAPON!!!!

You can once you get in
Check out the mech lab vid
Customizable but with more limits (for the good in my book) than the other games

In 3 months I will bet you 1 mill C-Bills that you will know what 90% of the mechs load out you see
Because they will have figured out what is the best bang for your buck
But then you will see people like me who will run different things just to hose the pther teams plans

Hardpoints all comes down to how many spares there are as to how well it works. In the hunchback video the arms had 2 or 3 energy points each (i forget which), and the side torso 3 ballistic ones. If that double/treble the base values is maintained across most mechs thats a lot of options without letting us go to the extremes of med laser boating e.t.c.

If however it's more +1/+2 per hardpoint it could seriouslly limit the viable configs on heavier mechs.
