I had my best luck firing them in groups of 2-3 (srm4 and 6 in this case), this is kind of a min/max answer for getting around as much of the HSR issues as you can, but yah the damage is still lackluster (IMO better than pure chain fire, unless your in a very very fast mech)

Yup.
From experience, playing at 280~350ms ping, the sweet spot seems to the 10 SRMs.
Anything more usually don't get registered.

You realize I don't care right?

I mean, I can walk away from my computer and not have a social meltdown because CW was postponed again. The time is going to pass anyway, just do something else.

You sounded behind on the times, no skin off my back if you care or not.

This isn't a Balistics vs issue.

In theory, all the weapons are fairly balanced right now.

This is a Damage over Time vs Frontloaded damage issue.

HSR doesn't work right. Damage spreading over hitboxes reduces. Hit detection on missiles is flawed.

It isn't the weapons, it is the games bugs running things here.

Dodgy hit detection plus the .1 increase in ping since last patch makes SRMs not viable for me.

For me, it appears that HSR seems to fail about 1/3 of the time but only when firing 3 or more SRM packs. my 2x SRM6 mechs do the damage I expect and visually report correct hits. Once I move to a 3x SRM6 mech it starts failing.

Yeah...because that really stopped the ppc/ballistic meta...LOL>! PPC/AC of your choice FTW, oh but you still need the skill to pull it off, too bad they cannot nerf that eh>? :)

remember...PGI said that the Gauss-Nerf (which really was a buff with a drawback) was the FIRST in a row of tunings and tweaks for ALL weapons... so be prepared for alot of meta-shifts in the next few months...

just so that you are warned guys, maybe makes the shock a bit less....shocking

The SRMs are a bit {Scrap} till the hit registration is fixed on them. When they are, the Splatcat will rise again :).

Lasers are ok in my book. Yea, they aren't the high pinpoint insta-damage of the ballistic and PPC, but they still get the job done IMO. Especially if you boat them. The Hunch 4P is dangerous up close and the Nova when it comes out will be pretty dangerous with proper weapon management.

Now, you shouldn't have to boat weapons for them to be effective, but when you do, both of the above can be extra dangerous.

Boating LRMs is fine...you don't need a mixed loadout for LRMs. You just need great positioning skills and a couple backup weapons. And TAG is not a maybe if you have an energy slot available for it. Speaking of which...it should be an equipment slot like AMS/ECM anyways. On top of that, you need to be like 50-100m behind your brawlers...shooting them from long range is the wrong way to use LRMs unless you are in a premade with a dedicated spotter. Even then, I'm right behind the front line mechs.

Long Range Missiles are a misnomer in this game really.

To each his own. LRMs give you plenty of time, no need to boat them. Eventually you will face brawlers who will wisely close within 180 meters to nullify your LRMs, at which point you switch to direct fire and finish them off.

In testing TAG I discovered it didn't work as advertised. It might save you a few LRMs or it might not work as well as no TAG at all. BUG maybe? Anyway, if you have a spare ton and energy slot , go for it. It couldn't hurt, defeats ECM, but so does an ERPPC, and an ERPPC does hurt.

Obviously, he has a bow and arrows. Massive range advantage.

We are using IS tech it might work better.....
