Assuming you have the hardpoints for it, would you generate less heat by fireing 2 LRM-15's and three LRM-10's rather than 4 LRM-15's, or it is the same ghost heat any time you fire 60 missiles at once?

You would not. Firing lesser weapons systems that are still linked would be treated as firing the greatest of them. AKA: Firing 3x LRM10 + 2x LRM15 = Firing 5x LRM15 in terms of Ghost Heat.

However, LRM5s are not linked to this, so Firing 3x LRM5 + 2x LRM15 would generate normal heat.

Rereading your post: If you're trying to fire 60 missiles simultaneously without ghost heat, your best bet would be 2x LRM20 + 4x LRM5. I just can't see a situation where that's entirely feasible. The amount of tubes available does not impact the heat, simply the Weapon Systems themselves.

Teach a man to fish: http://keikun17.gith...heat_simulator/

(a beta for a heat calculator, which I can't use since I'm at work and it's gone all funky)

Speaking of LRM's, do you any of you make it a point to equip BAP? Is its ability to "speed up" target locks really worth the 1.5t?

I can't answer as to BAP and LRMs, but I find it very useful when trying to lock onto a circling light while using SSRMs because they are in sight for a short period of time. It that case the Target Decay module also helps to keep the lock long enough for it to be useful.

Remember, the LRM/5 is exempt from Ghost Heat.

2x LRM/20 2x LRM/5 = 0 Ghost Heat (50 missiles)
2x LRM/15 2x LRM10 = 4x LRM/15 Ghost Heat (50 missiles)

Yeah, Ghost Heat is the most poorly designed system ever.

It only speeds up info target gathering, so no on that front.

However it will cancel the effects of ECM in close proximity, meaning a single light 'mech can't render you entirely useless without the ability to lock heavier, more important targets just by standing near you. So it's absolutely worth taking on every single LRM 'mech.

iv been running 2xlrm10 4xlrm5 and leaving out the artemus and bap to carry more ammo, 3xjj's just so im not left all alone walking the long way round ( recomend minimum of one )

many take tag bap and artemus plus backup weapons for defence against lights n mediums but I try to lure them into the pug ball and pray they sort em out for me.

doesn't always go well, but I do well enough often enough and just accept death when it comes.

Closer to 1150, I think. Every little helps!
