Convince Me That The Locust Is Worth Keeping

Spiders are as fast and Commandos are faster.
Jenners can run any* set a Locust can but better.
So what exactly is the point of this mech?
*Barring the 1V, which is just a straight downgrade from a Spider 5K.

Anything outside of that - like, combat - is misusing the locust. I admit, it's not a mech that plays into the average player's mindset. You cannot play a locust like you do any other mech. It's just too fragile. But it's the fastest mech in the game and can weave in and out of combat; and for the most part, players ignore them when there are other mechs around.

Sadly that is not true the commando is the fastest mech in the game.

Jagermechs can use them as footstools.
You can prop open a door with one. So long as it's a small door.
Little yappy dogs can use 'em as toys.

Not by a significant amount, with speed tweak and a maxed engines in each, the Commando is a whopping 1.8 kph faster. And the (arguably) best Commando, the 2D, has a lower speed cap than the others.
As for the Locust, probably the only one worth running regularly is the 3M. Max out the engine, max'd ferro armor, endo steel, 5 MLs, and 11 double sinks. Poor man's Jenner.

Speed: Spiders are as fast, Commandos are faster.
Recon: Spider 5D has ECM, Spiders and Commandos can do it just as well.
Capping: This goes back to the speed issue.
Swarm: ???

If you think you can win in one, it can increase the rate at which you accumulate gxp by giving you that 2x bonus once a day.
I ended up selling all but the energy variant.

I did the same. I mastered the 1V(P) as I had the Jenner D(S) and Raven 3L at 4/4 Elite waiting on a 3rd Light chassis to master. I just couldn't get into the Locust and am not a fan of lights myself but I own 3 of them and 4 Cicadas.

Only sell them if you have to have the mech bays. Same goes for any mech.

No, it's not the fastest. Two Spider variants match it in speed, and four Commandos can surpass it by a small margin.
By the way, you can easily just play any other light the same way you use a Locust, and get equal or higher performance. The Locust simply does not have a special talent that it does better than other lights. It is outright worse.

Its not the fastest mech, the commando is! It is a close second though. NM I see others got to it first.

But that's because heavy = better in MWO. For numerous reasons that have been explained and resolved in numerous threads, but largely ignored by PGI.
I'm keeping my 3M only because I don't need the mechbay it occupies yet. As soon as (or, if) I decide to buy a new chassis, it'll be gone.
