Neg. I do not believe so. I think a 'Mech design needs only a few more lines to be legally different from another one. At least it may not be impossible to keep the Marauder feeling in a possible new reseen.

Oh, how much i would love to challenge HG to a Trial of Possession for their 'Mech designs.. Or a Trial of Refusal for any legal action they might take.

on a side note new re-seen marauder miniature will be released next week (according to the IWM release schedule)

It's an adaptation of shimmering sword's and matt plogg's marauder 4X (cover of xtro: Succesion wars) it doesn't 100% match the original artwork but i do think its better than that re-worked catapract they have right now.

Before I had read the available court documents for fasa v playmates toys and HG & Playmates toys V fasa I probably would have agreed with you ... not any more.

Even if the suit isn't successful, it will cost millions and millions of dollars just to defend yourself, and you could wind up paying the disharmony gold's lawyer's fees; this is how DHLG has been behaving - threat of a lawsuit expensive enough to bankrupt you, backed up by their past behavior of actually bullying people that way.

Basically, they need to try and pee in, say, microsoft's cookies enough to have MS decide to smash them flat. Pockets less deep than that pretty much aren't tall enough to get on the ride.

the marauder 4x has srm launchers rather than the rt canon. but honestly i think it looks more like a supernova.

Much more like a Supernova. A redesign should at least have some of the old design's look..

Maybe I missed something, but has the Marauder been announced as a 'Mech coming for this game? If so, I hope that Flying Debris will go with something similar to the original design, but put balls on it like he has all of the other 'Mechs in this game. I am not a fan of anything Phoenix related, but the reseens that Alex has put together, better, are just that... better. Noooo, I'm not a fanboi, hehe...

I think that looks pretty bad ***. Along IS version of timberwolf lines. I think you have prejudice from playing with the old MAD so much.

I am however a big fan of shimmering sword's version to me that is the perfect version of the marauder it looks like a mean combat vehicle, with realistic proportions. It looks enoegh like the original to carry the name. I liked it so much i even made a miniature of it.

by miniature, what material? Clay or metal or plastic? How'd you get the detailing on the hot pants on the side of that? Is it a decal, or hand painted? Really good work on her skin gradient if hand done.

I don't think that PGI (or anybody else, ever, really) would touch Marauder (and other Macross Unseens) with ten foot pole. It's just not worth the risk & money for lawyers.

What the hell is that?
That is not in any way a Marauder, not by a long shot. That is something else entirely. I do hope that there are plans to keep the current reseen in service, as to me the current reseen IS a Marauder, not that new machine. Where is its Timberwolf like aspects?

@Sentinel373 - I can accept that as a new MAD design. It actually has the look.

Why not? They did the Wolverine, the Griffin, the Shadow Hawk, the Thunderbolt, and the BattleMaster, and all of them come from Unseens. If that miniature is being released, or has been released already, for the new Marauder, then HG probably can't have any say in it. Besides, someone said that if HQ tried to take on Microsoft, they would lose... well, here we are... I guess Microsoft still has their grubby paws in this franchise, so let HG challenge them so we can get everything back.

that miniature is resin/aluminum cast off a 3d printed master. the girl on the side is a transfer decal.

Dougram/Crusher Joe Unseen ain't a problem - Macross ones are. Except, or so I've heard 2-3 years back, the Osts - they are supposedly far enough from original non-BT artwork (with added arms etc.) that they are no longer considered Unseen.

(For TT - Dunno how this relates to PGI's rights)

As for Microsoft possibly taking action against Harmony Gold - I don't think it's gonna happen. MS would have actually too little to gain

Of course I have a predjudice for the old marauder.

I have one for it because it's better looking than that ugly thing that HG has forced the BT guys to call a marauder.

While I can't come to terms with using Phoenix mechs (AKA Reseen mechs) as proxies for the original unseen due to the dramatic aesthetic differences, which in no small part are dramatically different from the aesthetics of all the other 3025'ers, I am A-O-K with them as "Upgraded to the point of unrecognizability" 3060s designs. As such, I can't really stand to play 3025 games anymore, as individual Marauders and Warhammers can suddenly cost $50 a pop on online auction sites - and you don't even know if you're getting the real thing or some recast.

No, they're not drawn very well, but they can still paint up decently well. Likewise, the Macross-licensed designs really needed much more dramatic changes to avoid having HG breathe down their necks - but since nobody has ever picked up Fang of the Sun Dougram, they're free to use it as they please - though the current route of changing the aesthetics while still remaining an Homage are the best route in my mind.

I don't think the Marauder is THAT bad...
