Ok, this is where I will be dumping anything I do that is model related or fanart related on the subject of Battletech/Mechwarrior in order to keep from hi-jacking the threads of others.

For the MWO models that you will see here I use the services of Shapeways to print these. They have rules reguarding what can e printed in what way (Nothing below .70mm for the most part) and if there are floating parts on the model no matter how close they will be printed as two or more pieces. Every MWO model needs at least some care to clean up and fix, the Cent being a great example of this. However some pieces will missprint or have a mishap during upload to their services as a result of their programe that "Auto merges shells" and I was informed that too many shells will result in some of them vanishing almost all the time if you use the scale models that are provided in the MWO mech list (only old ones have the scale models, ones like the victor you gotta build from the parts and add in filler/pegs to close some gaps ect)
Now the only real beef I have with them is that they stop at one problem when going over the model and tell you what the one problem is, even if there is 100 other things wrong they will only tell you one problem at a time making it a very long process unless you know where all the trouble spots are when you doing this.
Now I WILL NOT UPLOAD THE CLEANED UP MODELS (want to avoid sentinels fate) but I will upload images of the problem areas that I have found and give you help along the way of your printing it, just do not ask anything advanced , I am still new to this.

Cicada 2A, Cent 9D/A and Phract 2X

A CNTAH and two Yen-Los , these are going to be a gift to a friend along with the Victor that is in print (Two srm6 one ac20 version, a jumpjetting AH) I will upload the Victor once it gets here.

FLEA MAN FLEA MAN DOING WHATEVER THE HELL IT CAN!

As you can see I have yet to finish this thing. I was really thinking about giving it posable ankles with the rest of it , but since I already put pegs in that make it too fraile for the only way I know how to make a joint with the ankles. Oh yea, buy from TheTeacher, you know you want to. Oh yea, and it seems the shades of brown I chose were too close together in color so they do not show up at all and even the gold barly shows up or just maybe I need to find a better camera?

On that note, I will be ordering a Demois from TheTeacher and will be uploading that as I go along on a later date.

Drunk {Scrap}
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Being the 31st and tomorrow the 1st I decided to get a few drinks in me. Then paint a few minis randomly with literally whatever I had just laying about just to see how things turn out!

Edit, the Night Wolf is painted for the most part. Though in grey on grey

Sober note: These minis I keep around to practice my handing hand on small details then I strip the paint job and go at them again for practice (stripping the paint also strips the glue, but eh) when I painted? these I just used whatever I had which was a bunch of thinned Testors and Krylon paints (never been able to get white thin out past a tar like state, i hate it) and why did I paint one but just the cockpits of the others? Seemed like a cool idea at the time.

Ok, here are the CNT problem lists. Where the wall is too thin they list it and where it is not attached is where the color is changed.

Once the Victor gets here I will upload the image and its problem list as well. All though I plan to redo it because I do not completely like that way it turned out.

I'd like to know myself, apparently someone made a stink about his miniatures . He elected not to elaborate in his thread and I respect that.

Ok let me just squash the rumor mill right there. I did not get in trouble because of the MWO models.

I was asked to stop the limited run of the shimmering sword Marauder I made. I figured i'd do a few copies of it since it is quite a popular design. and then I had nearly 150 pre-orders in less than a week. Since i'm now working with CGL this did not sit right with them especially since they had already announced a new marauder miniature based on shimmering sword and Matt Plogg's marauder that's on the cover of XTRO succession wars (the miniature is scheduled for release next week)

Myself and the guy who was going to do the resin casting of the figures had already sunk some money into the project and then we ended up being asked to stop halfway (note it technically was not a C&D but considering I was already working with CGL it might as well have been) anyway this was a big blow to my ego and i just didn't feel like doing anymore battletech stuff for a while. there you have it. note all of this happened on the lords of the battlefield forum.
we did made a few for ourselves however this is the result: http://i15.photobuck...zps6e133b52.jpg

Back on topic:
I see you've gone through the shapeways wringer in regards to rejected models aswel. MWO models definetly aren't built for 3d printing but with a bit of work they do look great
looks like you used their white strong and flexible material. what scale are those figures if i may ask. they look bigger than your average mini.

Indeed they are larger then MWO minis. I was thinking that making them larger then TT to see what problems I would have with smaller scales and in the case of the Cent it would need a reworking on some areas like is left arm, the plumes on the waists, head and shoulder would be way too thin for shapeways and so would the hand and feet. The hand would have be made closed fisted , the shield could just be made thicker but I do not know about the plumes, how would they look ultra thick on a TT scale? They are about 1.60ish TT size at about 2.-2.7 inches , depending on the model (but they are to scale with each other, also CNT is 2.531 w x 1.894 d x 1.352 at 22.59 if printed in black strong and flexible)
I got what I needed to learn out of the cent so I will start up on other models and maybe make them TT scale, or just larger pieces for whatever I feel.

Things like the victor, catapult , phract ect would just suffer some detail loss being TT size it looks like.

EDIT: Also Sentinel! I had thought you got sued on the Marauder deal, glad to see you did not!

Sexy sexy marauder using that DA Atlas (ugly as sin Atlas) as a stepping stone.

Ok. I have the left side to do and the Bushwaker is done. Wonder how long I will keep this paint job?

Also, it looks like my Deimos will be delayed due to weather. No surprise in that. Also expect to see a Catapult print on the same scale as the Cents and Victor. (Damn Catapult costs the most yet, even without a stand at 29.57 in basic white!)
Can you guess what color it will be?

Keep in mind I am painting this without any primer ect, just straight on brush.

Spoiler

Well the Deimos got delayed due to weather, kind of expected that to happen. The Catapult is in print and the Victor is due to ship.
I ended up canning the rest of the order that the Victor was in to get it to ship out. Anyway, done with the Bushwaker.

Spoiler

Catapult image so far. KK195 requested a few mechs, some of which were already on my list to do already so I went what he requested.......as far as I could follow anyway. I think he wanted open bays, not sure. I might work on a pose later, do not know.

Spoiler

I think I will keep posting in this thread as sort of a battle tech journal for myself. Probably a good idea too, giving the fact my memory is like a strainer.

Victor arrived today. I had put its legs into a slightly different standing pose since I was building this from the pieces that was in the mech folder since there was no scale model to use and alter. It is in the same scale as the others, or should be. Feel free to correct me on that.

Anyway the Deimos arrived and was stunning to look at. I will be getting to work on that after the Flea is done.

Catapult C4 Painted. If you look closely at this you will see cat hair on it. Left it to dry in the basement and I guess the cats took a liking to it.

Spoiler

Anyway. I have a Raven 3L arriving sometime Monday-tuesday that will not be painted until some time later. I ran out of some paints and need to finish the Flea then do work on the Deimos before I even paint/make another MWO print.

I hope they are going through IWM.

Anyway. Here is the MW4 MekTek version of the Wild Cat a mech that I used a lot in MekTek multiplayer.
Anyway, while I was making building and painting this I decided to play MWO while plastered again and I picked up the mini and accident broke it doing so. I then remade the piece from a spare wild cat I had then glued and painted the piece and area. Try to guess where and what it was.

And yes, this is a 3D print , but not in white and strong, but in black detailed. It looks like it was laminated together.

Also, the piece is 1.4 inchs tall, so smaller then TT.

UPDATE:

Raven 3L arrived and was damaged. The medium lasers were busted off so I made some alterations to the model in blender and made some walls thicker in hopes that the cockpit becomes visible and not completely merged with the CT to the point where it is invisible. reordered it and keeping the failed piece as normal.

Have Images.

Been ages since I posted anything here.
Did some work on the Flea but then realized as I put the leg on with the rest of it that the gold paint that I bought to continue the work on it was a slightly different shade even though it was the same type, brand ect. that I bought before. Now I have a Flea model that has a different shade of paint on its shin and that somewhat killed me wanting to finish it for right now.

I painted a few minis, that is four minis , real minis , that I have painted so far and with three of them not done in a drunk fashion. I do not know how I painted the Bushwaker with enamel paints and not screw up on it, I can`t seem to do it sober. Anyway since my choices of paints are thin at the moment and I wanted to paint something you get to see gold, black , yellow , orange and white Battle Tech minis.

The Thanatos was my second BT mini I did, Hollander was the second, and the Ontos was the third (sober)

Spoiler

As you can see the shade in the gold is a big difference , and , that I am a AC fan too.

Its a real shame that you can't upload these to the Shapeways website so that we could order our own copies. I understand there is some kind of legal issue with MWO creating figures or some such, but there is certainly a market out here waiting to get MWO versions of the TT scale as well as N Scale figures. I wish someone in the know could work out some kind of legal arrangement that would allow the fans to get their figures and for the license holders to make some money.

They are on shapeways. My understanding it that we can not sell them our selves for a profit.
That is how I had them printed.

You just have to have someone hand over the files so you can upload them your self or make adjustments to them and then order them.
