Of note though - if you have enough ammo - putting it in a side torso becomes safer believe it or not. On my LRM skirmisher - I put it all in a side torse (launchers on the other). I have an XL - so there's no point in getting case. However - there's enough ammo that the crit damage is spread out amongst all 8 tons - and it's extremely rare for any of them to take enough to explode. (I can't remember it ever happening - maybe once.)
If I only put one ton of ammo there - it would take all of the crit hits to that section - and 196 damage would be more than enough to kill me (or even a fraction of that if the ton of ammo was partially used) - so I might as well go ahead and put all my eggs in one basket.

That... isn't actually as crazy as I thought it was going to be after reading the first sentence.

Ditto, it's very counter intuitive....I'm going to crit pad my ammo with.....MORE AMMO!!
