9B is crappy? Favorite mech right now, it has never let me down, im suprised you dont like it. Sounds like you want a quickdraw, but it doesnt have balistics.
Orion is solid. I own the K variant. AC-20, couple of missiles and a good set of energy in the arms.
Cataphract are my baby, they work so well, so many good loadouts for them. But they can be frigile.
