One arty 3 Headshots with one strike.
And this happens often.
min. every second strike gives a Headshot....
BTW: how can a strike headshot a DDCs Cockpit?
The bullte can fly a 90° curve into his eye or what?

I basically have rarely been hit by arty or air yet tho also so........
Of the times I have been creamed there were no headshots.
Still, imo, arty / air should do no dmg to the head at all or a very reduced amount. (purely for balance reasons)

Number of headshots: Zero
Even on the strikes that exceeded 600 damage.
A few destroyed limbs on lights mechs here and there, or kills when there where weak or open torso armor.
I'd really like to see some real evidence for this, as I can't seem to replicate it on my own.
My theory: Maybe the victims reduce their head armor and are therefore more prone to be killed by the artillery splash damage?

Most of the time you see the red flare and get clear, not hard.

The damage should just be scaled back to 20 per shell, would balance them and also stop the random head shots.

Never happened to myself yet. But the same can be said about "normal" headshots. I got headshot in my Cat, Phract and Stalker a few times only (less than 5 each) since I own them.

i think where the actual projectile starts, is armed and does damage need to be looked at as well. perhaps the angle of desccent.
Splash damage to the head is ok, but you should never be able to weild a no minimum no maximum range weapon and headshot anyone.
even if the damage stays the same i dont think the main shell damage should be able to headshot anyone- splash damage ok, but no 40pt head damage.

If the shell/bomb hits a mech it does 40 damage to the part of the mech hit.
If the shell/bomb hits the ground it does 40 damage randomly splashed across each mech within 20/30m of the shell/bomb, and remember with 6 to 10 shells/bombs hitting the area it is possible to catch someone in mutiple splash effects.
Speaking from practice, it is very easy to kill a mech with a wounded head using the splash damage from the improved artillery strike.

- I spend several nights a week in 12 mans.
- In 12 mans we spam strikes back and forth non-stop.
- They land very, very frequently (on both teams)
- I've seen 4 headshots in about two and a half months.

and i am sure your random 12 man drops have been perfect tests to prove how often or not this really happens.
the issue i have is more with the fact that it does happen, then how often it does.
