I've probably missed this somewhere, but does anyone know if there is a respawn? Or will we go into observer mode for the remainder of the match?

i would assume you go into the observer mode or get thrown back to the mech hangar. there is no respawn

If i understood the devs right you will switch to observer mode untill the game is over.

Observer mode would be cool. But, then we have the issue of someone in oberver mode while on Vent with their lance.... Reporting positions of opposing mechs.

Obersver mode where you can jump around and view the members of your remaining lance only maybe?

No respawn and observer mode is limited to eye view of the remaining team members.

BOOM!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I recall that in "Dropship" game mode (does this still exist?) You were able to spawn back to your dropship and drop again from it in another 'Mech from your hangar to re-join the game.

I think I read or heard in one of the interviews that upon inception there wold two games, or modes of gameplay, one of which is dropship mode where you drop into the frey and upon being destroyed you could drop in with a different mech, meaning if you have a total of 4 mecks in your meck bay you can respawn with each but once all 4 have been destroyed your elimated from that match

They were also talking about a "DROPSHIP" game mode. This is where each pilot selects 4 'mechs to be loaded into a dropship. When one 'mech is destroyed, they respawn in the hanger bay, select their next 'mech, and combat drop back onto the battlefield.

That was of course a few months back and so may have changed.

Dropship mode was one of the game modes they were talking about yes. You would have 3 mechs in reserve in a dropship.

They failed to mention the Dropship mode recently, I think they put it on the back burner in preference for working on the base capture mode.

having played World of Tanks, which uses an observer mode after death system, I can say that it works perfectly well even on vent because even when you are an observer you can still only see what your teammates can see.

Yeah but also in WoT you could leave and hop into another tank in another match. By the time the second one was done your first tank wouldnt be tied up anymore and you could just chain them.

Oh they better have dropship because I will be damned if I'm sitting watching other players.

Drop ship better be the main territory fight mode or I won't put money into this game. Not if it makes me watch other players, no way. Free to play for 2-3 years all the way and let everyone else pay for the games development. Sue me

I can't believe how many of you are so excited to sit and watch players playing. :D

I got better things to do with my time than just sit there. Don't even want to know what you all plan to do while waiting. Lets just say I'm not a pervert, I don't like to watch ;)

I think that you should be able to observe and report if your 'Mech goes down, because oftentimes a 'Mech is just disabled to the point where it cannot move. In that case it's communications might still be up. MIGHT. I think an odd/even (50/50) dice roll should determine whether you can comm to your group or not using the cockpit controls. Oh noes, but what if the pilot is using Vent / Teamspeak? That actually makes the game more realistic. If your 'Mech goes down and your comms are fried, a 'MechWarrior always has a weapon, rations, first aid, and a RADIO of some kind so that he/she can get the heck out of the area and get to safety. Right? So using third party voice comms would be akin to using a hand radio.

I have to say i also don't like the idea of what happens in world of tanks, where it goes from 20 v 20 to 2 v 2 and those guys just camp for the next 20 minutes.

It encourages people to be passive & it also drives out a TON of new players who want to actualy play a game not watch it.

And before anyone goes "omg well they are just noobs good riddiance" consider this:
No influx of new players means no more money for the company, means the game loses it's player base & stops growing witch inevitably drives the developers to try and get money from further means (meaning dropping the game or offering actual game play effects such as super ammo).
