Actually, I noticed one other little thing that is different about it. When you are in a match, anyone that targets you will see "GRIDIRON LIMITED EDITION" as the name of your mech. Seems to be the longest mech name in the game right now, so it really stands out.

TBH, if you can roll damage and shoot straight it's not a problem. I have an AC/10, 3x ML, and an SRM6 in mine with an XL275. Doing anywhere between 200 to 500 damage per match. Only one match I got below 100 last night. This is about 8 games played with it. Went back to finish up my last Griffin and 2 Wolverines afterwards. Will master out the GI after those are done.

FOOTBALL!!!!!!
That is seriously 100 times better than the actual video trailer's soundtrack, and I would be far more entertained by this mech if I had've seen that first, rather than the wub-tastic noise they used.
As it is? Not terribly interested. No jump jets, and as much as I love SRMs for a quick 'shotgun' type weapon, only having the six doesn't thrill me.

yes I bought it (never said I had a brain) and I love the think ! but I am a dedicated Hunchback pilot.
I currently run this :-
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6099f0d3101a069
I see only one problem here. The 46 front 2 rear for the left side isn't such a good idea. I have to test it to see if the hitboxes were changed, but that 'fuel tank' thingy on the left side? Before this patch if you hit that from the front it counts as rear side. Given how short the Hunchback is, it's real easy to hit that and make it go boom.
Let's find out if that's still a problem/weakness.
In the mean time, here's what I'll be trying.
Based loosely on my most successful 4G rig ever where this was the first run I've ever done with it. (Chase cam by Lordred in his camera commando. Other voices aside from mine are simply listening in from teamspeak while playing World of Tanks).
Score that faithful day.
Here's to hoping for similar success!

after looking at the new models I went and rebought a J. Yep its mean has a lower torso profile. I like it. I still will never run Xl's in my hunchies. I only run SRM's in my SP because Im just so used to using them that way. But yesterday again. Shot after shot after shot just didn't register.

I have decent success with them if I fire them at 100+ meters and not in mass (2 launchers). On my Griffin with the 3 Missiles in the RT, I put in 3xSRM4s and noticed that with 2xSRM6s I did better even though they are both 12 missiles. I consistantly get kills with them and damage registering.

there are so many ways to make a special product but like this if you already have a 4g or 4sp there is no reason to buy this thing exept for the boost in cbills

? Some of the other Hero mechs are not in Lore either. Pretty sure the Muromets was made up as is the X-5 (it's actually based on a clan mech). The Grid Iron is almost based off the HBK-4N (SRMs instead of LRMs and in different shoulders instead of the same).

thats just it im seeing them splat but they just arent registering. Some games they do but others it just doesn't. It does seem at closer ranges they register less though. I still break 300 damage alot but thats due to the 5 lasers more then my srm 6 and 4. I was running them on the wolvie but 2 ppc's and streaks are a lot more fun (I actually suck in this mech but it is a blast to me for some reason).

So what about the football part of the lore? Too obscure for you?

There are two versions of the Grid Iron, the normal and the Limited Edition. You get the cheerleader bobblehead with the limited edition, but it costs 500 MC more.
Now what the hell? I always thought the cheerleader was included in the price, not something extra you need to pay. The ad had nothing mentioned about two versions and extra costs.

That wasn't lore used by PGI - that was someone in the forums pointing out lore that could have been used for marketing if PGI had spent even a small amount of time researching. Big difference.

You are paying slightly more for the limited edition, which includes the bobblehead - I don't agree with it, but it's a matter of phrasing. Don't want to pay the extra for the limited edition? Don't. Just buy the normal hero version for slightly less.
