There should be a way to introduce those thing back to make CW more intersting.

You plan to conquer/defend a planet.

Idea 1)
First you should decide how many ammo and spare parts to put in your dropship before heading to the planet.
After every match you will have to manage your resources: if you dry up your resources or ammunition, you have to leave the planet.

Idea 2)
While conquering a planet players should have 50% of their battles modes "conquest" or "assault".
Resources gathered in conquest, or managing to get the base in Assault mode, raises your spare parts and ammo revenues.
Based on what you gain you can rearm/repair your mech.

Idea 3)
You start up with with your dropship with unlimited repair chance but very limited ammo and equip.
Once you start fighting for a planet you'll be locked on it for a certain amount of matches.
Every match you should decide the loadout of your mech, and once your AC or LRM ammo are finished, you can just rely on energy weapons.

Idea 4)
Planets are locked each other by routes betwenn them.
Every planet has incomes (spare parts and ammo), once you conquered it, your ammo and spare parts are refilled accondingly.

Those are just 3 basic, non developed ideas just to start up the discussion.
How do you implement this on the CW to spice up things?
In every real war (and BT ones too) resources and logistics are a key factor.
More, Forcing people to get rid of their beloved LRM boats or AC boats and deal with lasers could level thing a bit.

Dunno.

Share your thoughts.

This is why it won't fly. Only die-hard sim types would go for this, and those are not the players targeted for profit.

R&R was tried, and even PGI understood that it has no place in a competitive multiplayer setting.Half the players are losing more than winning on a regular basis. Veterans are good at finding holes in any system. R&R punished new players while providing exploits for veterans. There is no single player AI that you could milk for salvage -- it would have to come from half the player base. Way to lose customers.

In your specific example, a veteran would simply not use ballistic or missile weapons except maybe as support equipment.

That's why ELO exists.

Elo, it is not an acronym. And no, it does not help. There are always many people truly green/bad, and those will always be punished by R&R.

The system can be adjusted. Hell, you could give a 50 match amnesty, an AI game mode could be added, low elo players can play against other low elo players. There's going to be a new dynamic of leveling in CW, so low level players will play against low level players. This isn't some insurmountable problem, but yes, it will require solutions, as it was implemented in beta it was bad. It can and -should- be done better.
