I never stopped running SRM mechs because I love them, I just got a bunch of sabre mechs that want them to level, and I'm a bit of a sucker for self inflicted punishment (the word for this is filtered, really?). Before Tuesday's patch I noticed that of the Griffin I was doing best in the 1S, in other words the one with the least reliance on SRMs and worst in the 3m or the one with the most reliance on SRMs. Tuesday night just for fun I pulled out my CN9-D with 2 ASRM6 and ran it with my buddy running his and we wrecked face all over enemy teams often getting 6 to 8 kills between us and carrying the whole team. We then started using other fast srm mechs and the same results continued.

I'm on day 3 of nothing but great matches using SRMs so I think it is time to let everyone know they just might be working now. SRM spread is still terrible so make sure you use Artemis or they will still suck.

Don't take my word for it though, go try it for yourself and tell us how you do with them.

If they changed anything it wasn't in the patch notes.

They fiddled with HSR in December's big patch. Made a big difference in SRMs for some people

I wonder if it's just that you're running a pair of Centurions. Freakin' wraith mechs.

SRM's were not ever really bad. They just had a slight bug issue (from what I saw) when fired 3 SRM 6's at the same time...hell, even 2. Even with Tubes that could support it.. Not sure if HSR or what. They wouldnt all register.

I run a 30-70 ping, (50 avg), and have no prob. hitting,

I still run em, and have fun with them. Its hit and miss some times. But when a 3 rack of 6 HIT across them........its niiiiiiiiiiiiice!

I have wonderful success with them in my SHD-2D2, and I can't do anything with them in my Kintaro's I think at least some of it is positioning, mobility, and hard point position... .all of which change mech to mech.

I've been doing quite well with SRMs the whole time. Nothing like it was during the age of the splatcats, but good consistent results.

If this is true it will definitely squeeze some life back into the AWS-8R again.

I will also give it a crack tonight and see if it has improved any.

Well..HSR is server side thing..so I guess they could change it anytime.. while I am not using SRMs much, I am happy to see that other fellow mechwarriors have some good experience with them again :D

It's the dud shots that need fixing. All too often you will fire off your SRMs in an Alpha Strike and only one launcher would register a hit, and it was quite frustrating chain firing them when you would have been better off nuking the target with that one salvo anyway.

It is so hard to tell, but I feel like they are doing better. Hopefully we can get some straight answers.

from what i'm lead to believe the hit reg starts getting iffy on SRM volleys of more than 8 missiles

From my experience (with ping stable between 20-50) they always registered and did damage. When I run out of 500 missiles, I normally have 800-900 damage with plenty of misses.

They're just sub-optimal compared to lasers and ballistics because of the random spread without artemis. I haven't ran artemis SRMs in quite a few months, but they worked decently on a Cent around the 2.0 buff time. They're just outshined by other weapon systems.

I never stopped using them but only as a tertiary weapon while face hugging...

Playing at 280~350ms ping.
I just SRMed 2 locust into scrap metal an hour before, and the damage score for my 2x ASRM6 griffin is breaking 500 again.
