Like running into you for instance. I feel ashamed the few times I've seen you I've been terribad plastered because I'm sure it will take me a good month to get my elo back to your level again unless the matchmaker decides to play a cruel joke on us.

I have bad games just as much as good games.

There's nothing I can do to unshame myself other than playing better. Too bad when I'm tired, the decision making suffers. On the other hand, sometimes I can't do anything to stop the fail.

I'll just go back to playing the same few guys over and over... I mean... fun.

Yeah I did that for a year between months off to preserve my sanity. The only thing that really changed up who I play against was to stop pugging and join a guild. 4v lances and 12v lances are a whole different ballpark if you can stand taking orders from others.

Matchmaker's been working okay for me.
Games are better than they were pre-Elo MM, substantially.
More close games the better its data gets it seems to me.

Better matches.

Every time I have a bad losing streak I make a point to log in and check my profile.
Wins/Losses: 1,948 / 1,732
I really thought I've been losing badly lately, but nope, still about the same as always.
I just forget the winning streaks very quickly.

Although I'm not totally delusional.
All my map stats are about 1.05 win/loss EXCEPT:
HPG Manifold: Wins 10; Losses 20; Win/Loss Ratio: 0.50
I'm not imagining things! I hate that map!

However, my win loss ratio in my newest three mechs are:
1.53: Jaeger DD
0.95: Jaeger A (yeah, trying to make LRMs work. They don't.)
1.97: Jaeger S

So actually, the MM is working out well for me ;-).
So I might be biased.

The proper response to the lopsidedness is one of the following:

Working as intended
or
gg close

Frankly, this is rather common, that it's hard to want to respond to these threads w/o agreeing to both sides of the argument.

Definitely "ggclose" for this case considering alpha lance on the winning team. :P

I find the game to be worse during European prime time, I doubt many children play this game. if they did, they would not even be home from school until close to midnight in Europe.

Sorry, I know y'all like to blame Americans for everything, especially you like to blame our children, I think that says far more about your failings then the kids faults.

It's not just the matchmaking, but also the fact that there's really little reason to take anything outside high end heavies, assaults, or lights. Your goal is either high damage or speed, and considering not a whole lot of folks can play decent with a light mech, you'll see a LOT more 70 tons+ for each mech because nobody has a reason to take anything else.

TBH, I find it the complete opposite during the weekends (my afternoon is their prime time I think). The level of play is vastly different. It's easier/worse, depending on how you look at it.

Either way, your experience will still vary, depending on your ELO level.

He does say the majority but referencing lights ;) I think its safe to assume his point is mobile mechs given his reference to high end heavies / assaults. (ie, he meant the opposite of)

Personally I find SHD against and unscratched ATL harder than I do with my Jenner

I just came out of a game where my team had something like 8-9 assaults and 3-4 heavies, against a team with a few assaults, heavies, some mediums, and lights. I don't think I have to say who won that round...

Normally, I'd say the team with the most skill, but the bads have been SOOOO bad lately.... I'm going to say the team that had the most click Ready first?

The answer is, my team. This is because we had a dramatically higher pool of health and firepower (due to every single mech on our team being 65 tons or heavier), and could simply overwhelm them like a Zerg rush.

So you all hit the Ready button first?
Winning the Ready game is serious business.

I think the ready race was relatively close, IIRC. I don't really pay attention to that minigame.

Clearly, someone doesn't realize what mediums are for.

This is how you remove scout while still having the firepower to threaten heavies. Especially the 55-ton Phoenix trio, who tend to be able to pack plenty of scout-killer Streaks and still have the other guns needed to hose bigger targets. 100+ kph speed also makes them effectively heavy scouts themselves if you go that route.

My understanding of matchmaker is that it predetermines which team should win based on Elo and works from there. I've taken to assuming that some days matchmaker just gets lazy and doesn't even pretend it's going to be a close fight. That's where those 400+ ton differences come from, matchmaker saying "You Lose!"

I found the frequency of good matches goes way up after 10pm est. And after 2pm eastern when school lets out is the worst. Then you get the greatest number of cheese build teams like 4 ac40 in a premade or the worst tactical behavior. Dont mind EU prmetime past the insult warriors ranking on the Russians. Don't know if its old farts with cold war memories or just kids who watch to much TV. One guy I see regularly is Russian and he is the best wingman I have seen in the game. No better pilot to cover your six.
