Being a medium lover AND brawler, I'm shooting myself in the foot here but I genuinely belive that mechs with large weapons on the shoulders like the Hunchback, Shadowhawk, Griffon, Thunderbolt exc should have bigger blind spots than the model currently presents.

Thoughts?

I'd argue that vision is currently too restricted as it is, considering that we're supposed to have "360-degree vision". That said I like the fact that we don't have 360 vision since it would make sneak attacks impossible.

That aside, only one of the mechs you named is "competitive" - apart from that one you'd just be making "bad" mechs worse. Does the Hunchie really need another beating with the nerf bat? ^_^

If anything the other HBKs need what the 4SP got in the geometry update, namely the whole hunch should go away if no weapons are mounted in it. Same for Shawks. Tbowls and Griffons I believe already lose the missile pod if you don't have any weapons mounted in them.

I just rattled a few off the top of my head. There's plenty more not even in the game yet also.

You mean risk vs reward? GASP! What a concept lol. If those mechs want to field the weapons then they should have the blind spots to go with it.

I'd like to clarify that geometry updates make threads like this obsolete but since PGI lacks the ability to properly communicate and keep thier community updated players like myself come up with these random thoughts from time to time and toss them at the wall to see what sticks. Also... boredom posting from work. ^_^

Lore and technology argue against blind spots. That said all mechs do have a blind spot. Us in the business call it, 'Behind them'.

You've obviously never used advanced zoom lol

I think zoom and the various cockpits do a good job of this now honestly

Considering the majority of weapons that utilize advanced zoom have been the most exploited, controversial, and nerfed over the course of MWO's brief history I've honestly never had the desire to "soil" myself with such a device. Some players have standards and honor, and that goes for our posting too sir spamsalot.
