So everyone, if your team ends up not having ECM, is it going to be a problem for you?

I may swoon.
If both teams, all teams, went entirely sans the OP ECM -it does NOT work remotely as it's supposed to- in this game, I would be enormously happy, and I could actually fight.

^this. nowadays i refer to it as ECM-r^pe when there are multiple DDC/3L/3M/5Ds on the opposite team.
I actually bring TAG on my assaults even when they don't run LRMs to paint the ECM carrier. Suddenly the ECM carrier is wondering why there are 12 mechs shooting at it

lol
the radar is horribly unreliable at best even if nobody is using anything and im looking at it less lately and hunting visually, even with lrms im more often locking to fire after I visualy tracked the target.

my stance of it is that its for wimps that don't know how to play and cowards.
if your smart and use your eyes and use cover to fire from behind the missles lose lock which is the same thing.

But we need DDCs ECM, lights just dont use ECM to protect the team and why should they, their job is to run around hunt other lights and cap. So we need DDCs.
Now that LRMageddon is back DDCs dictates if a team wins or loses.

Suddenly they can stack and negate BAP, potentially turning off not only LRM's but Streaks as well.

If facing LRMs you have to use cover and be careful crossing open spaces. Fitting AMS also helps.
However, in most games I have played with light or medium mech ECM ... they run off and never come back. They scout, they harass, they die and do very little for their team from an ECM perspective. Atlas DDC ECM is the most useful since you can use the Atlas as a rallying point ... at least until the DDC fits LRMs and sits at the back ... but DDCs aren't as often LRM boats these days.

I don't get the whining about ECM. No, you can't just sit in a defile and destroy the entire team from range without exposing yourself. Get over it. Learn to dead-fire or carry a TAG. The most annoying thing is when an LRM guy sits 900 m behind the line and then whines that no one is holding locks. It's hard to hold locks even when the enemy isn't using ECM, because most fights involve popping out of cover once every few seconds to take a shot. Guys who stand out in the open to get targeted usually die in the first two minutes.
