This is great stuff. If you can read the enemy's cooldowns based on when he's shooting at you, you can suddenly decelerate right before he would. I've even gone in reverse a couple of times, and let me tell you, nothing is quite as funny as watching someone try to shoot you as you reverse away from them in an irregular pattern. Locusts are pretty OP at that. You can outrun mediums in reverse.

You can outrun clan lights in reverse too. :D Lets you keep shooting them while you get back to your team.

What is your KD with Locusts? :P

My K/D was close to that in the 3m after my first few matches. Now. . . to maintain it after 30 or 40 or 200 matches :)

My locust specs aren't amazing...
But then I've been playing them for about a year, have around 400 matches in them, and the 3S was the second mech I ever bought in MWO... so it has to fight that.

But, it's also around 1/6-1/5 of my total matches in the game....
My Locust W/L floats around 1 (usually between 0.8 and 1.2) and K/D around 0.1-0.2....

Interestingly enough, now that I go back and look at it my k/d and w/l seem to be trending toward even, especially on mechs that I play a lot. My 3M is still my best mech, but it's also the one I've spent the most time on.

Once the MM figures out your skill level, you'll probably see a similar trend. When you first start a new mech, especially in a weight class you haven't played before, it'll tend to put you against easier people for a while. Once you carry a few matches and climb Elo a little you shouldn't see too many aberrant numbers like that.

So.

Im not dropping cuz my ping has been closer to 9000 than not.
Listening to the Dale Cooper Quartet and the Dictaphones
Im finishing the night with a beverage that is 72% alcohol and i had an epiphany....

What if CW had like, i dunno, an option for a 'light' drop deck of 80-200 tons, with suitable objectives?

I bet the Locust would be seen more in CW.

Or am i just drunk? F-it. why not have an option for CW where each team gets 4 Locusts/player, no turrets, best team wins???
Could be called the 'farm league' and you get insane Cbill and LP bonus???? IQ test and Testosterone-blood serum level check needed for entry.

Can i get a Hell Yeah?!?!?!?

Doesnt matter.

Locust is about the Funk.

Whatever ELO. High, low, middle. Dont matter.

Others with so much more, try to do, what we do, with so much less.

Plus we aint scared. If we were, we wouldnt roll Locust.

I use the Locust for 2 things:

Pure Thrills and trolling.

To tighten up play if i get too aggro.

Thats it. Nothing more.

my KDR in the locust used to be like 5-ish + but it dropped a lot when light mechs started to get clobbered and Jenners are no longer the meta light mech.

It dropped as Streak Catapults became the norm (luckily 1 locust of mine has 2 AMS and still held up...).

Then the clan invasion happened. You had streak timberwolfs and everythings running about and Clan LRM's acting like a streak SRM 20 to a locust.

That made it drop.

My best kdr atm in the archive atm 1.25

I can't be bothered to screenshot it just to be a 'reliable source' and limit the room of stuff I occupy on the internet instead of important stuff.

If you doubt me for the 1.25 kill to death then so be it.

I would rather post pictures of drawings of locusts I made instead of lines of numbers and letters that could be edited over and be fake but still look real.

I recently bought the locusts, because they were on sale, and they are a rather tough mech to get use to and use, since they are so vulnerable. I've had friendlies take out my back armor and nearly core me, while I was chasing a light mech and murdering it, because they decided it was a great idea to try and shoot the other light mech, but they ended up hitting me!

However, once one gets the hang of it, they aren't that bad of a mech. Heck, just today, I got 3 kills, 7 assists, and 4 component destructions in my 4 small laser, 2 medium laser build. It was pretty fun.

1- You want it to be 80-180. Unless you intentionally want Cicadas in there.

2- I believe Russ was talking about something like that on Twitter. I think he wants to make invasion a three match mode or something. Where first it's scouts, then the main force, then god knows what else.

So you get "every last freaking Hell Yeah in the lexicon!" As Rip so eloquently put it.

I have nothing but respect for good Locust pilots. Why? Because I'm not one. In fact, I'm pretty certain my presence in a Locust cockpit causes the mech to spontaneously explode. It's the only explanation that makes sense.

Hands down, Locust is the most thrilling mech. No matter how good you are, running into a stray AC20 round ends the match most of the time, so you kinda need to be aware of what's happening around you, all the time.

You are kind of overemphasizing on how "epic" your stats are here. 1.25 is not too high for a light mech, fragile or not.

Oh I know.
I play it for the sheer joy of the mech, stats be damned.
And honestly, I only really care about W/L anyway, K/D can go spit in a team game.

I'm happy with my performance, and how much fun I have. :)

They definately are, and you have to be mindful of everything.

Locusts teach you battlefield awareness like nothing else.
And how to dodge.

Don't forget to frontload that armour. :P
Rear armour should be around the 2/3/2 mark.

Yes, I said I did more damage earlier but that is what it is now. Hence why I am not taking a screenshot over it.

(Ironically the 1.25 KDR is in my LRM locust... Sean Lang was one of the numbers to make the 1.25 AND the kill the dev medalion. (yes I know he isn't a dev. but the challange applied to any [PGI] tag person))

My KDR as I said hovered quite a lot higher before the first clan wave and revenge of the streak cat.

I love the Commando and I hate the Locust cockpit, but after quirks the king of the real light mechs is the locust. 1E and 3M are just plain better than any commando with very few drawbacks now.

I love the 3m (well I love all my locusts) it is my best kill per match and I think my best KDR. The only problem I have is I get feeling invincible right around kill #3 in a round and get too aggressive and. . . Well it is a locust it does what locusts do.

My pleasure. I never expected this thread to explode to such a level. This thing almost rivals the Urbanmech thread (about 300 ish posts short)

Happy New Year to the Locust Pilots of Mechwarrior Online from A Serbian Orthodox Christian in New Zealand.

(14/01/2015 here in nz atm of time of post)

Yes. I am purposely bringing my different calender to this discussion. why? to confuse you AND to say merry christmas, happy easter, and happy new year twice to people.

Who doesn't like 2 Christmases and double the warmly greetings?!?

(Also am I the only one that no locust has a LRM 5 quirk?...)
