Oh I know.
I play it for the sheer joy of the mech, stats be damned.
And honestly, I only really care about W/L anyway, K/D can go spit in a team game.

I'm happy with my performance, and how much fun I have. :)

They definately are, and you have to be mindful of everything.

Locusts teach you battlefield awareness like nothing else.
And how to dodge.

Don't forget to frontload that armour. :P
Rear armour should be around the 2/3/2 mark.

The good stat about a Locust is the damage per ton per match.
It's the highest stat among ALL mechs I have: 10,4 for PB, 9,65 for 1E, and 8,71 for 3M. That is 9,58 average.
It's like saying that a dire should do at least 958 dmg EVERY match to be as productive as my 3 locusts, average

It's truly a pity that MWO doesn't have a dmg per ton reward!! :P

Is raderp mandatory for locust? What about hill climb?

I like to have Radar Depr in mine, since ams+ammo require tons... and locust has few.
Locusts are speedy, but every lrm that can hit you is a step toward the cemetery :)

I found that locust can climb quite well even without hill climb module, while shock absorbance is very very usefull.

Radar dep helps A LOT regardless of the mech.

Hill climb is your alternative to JJs, as it allows you to pretty much go wherever you want.

Just discovered the magic of this little bugger. Running a 1E with 190XL 2ML 4SL. Pokes well, and is nippy enough to loop right around to lose attention.

Eager to try the 3S and spam SRM2 like a huginn soon. It's already semi-usable stock, if you replace all the weapons with 4 launchers and a ton of ammo.

That is the 1e loadout I use most often. The range quirks are great even the half quirked mlas reach forever. The 3s is a little trickier with its ammo dependence but it is fun. I like to chain fire the srms for the rocket machine gun effect :D

Might I suggest the 3m as your third. It is a true killer with 5 spl max engine and BAP. It is like a 169kph ac 20. Components just fall off at the sight of you.

It... doesn't.
With a max speed of 124kph (tweaked) it's more comparable to the slower end Commandos.

My pleasure. I never expected this thread to explode to such a level. This thing almost rivals the Urbanmech thread (about 300 ish posts short)

Hmmm. . . there is a lot of crossover between this thread and the Urbie thread. . .and now he is almost here so. . . 6 urbies/6 locusts vs. 6 urbies/6 locusts would be interesting.

Locust is about the Funk.

Locust be all about the feels...

How I feel before a match;

How I feel running around the battlefield lasers glaring;

How I feel sneaking up on unsuspecting mechs;

How I feel getting out of my Locust after a victory;

How I feel every time I pilot a locust;

Haha, true unless you hid all your locusts behind your urbies and ambushed the enemy locusts when they came rushing in...(how many team kills do you think the urbies would get trying to shoot into the mass of locusts?)

I missed an entire conversation about Cicadas... *sadface*

I play my 3M with 2x Large Pulse.
I think I have an XL260 in it now - it's kinda slow for a light mech, but I find I've never had a need for speed. The long range and quick burn on the LPLs allows me to shoot many times in a general location before I have to scoot. If I put large lasers on it, I'd have to stay revealed longer to do my damage, and medium lasers don't grant me enough range. PPCs and ER PPCs especially are just way too hot - I've found them completely useless on a Cicada for my playstyle. Don't know how other people get them to work.

I use Hill Climb on my Locusts, but I don't really notice a difference, and I have a unit mate who swears that Hill Climb is the most useless module you can buy.

I almost PMed you: "These locusts are too big, they don't work! HELP!" After I bought The cicadas but I think I am starting to figure them out.

PHWAHAHAHA!

Oh man, that'd be so...I mean. Wow. Yeah, the Urbies would have to stick together, and the Locusts would end up flying everywhere. It'd be like a herd of turtles that somehow wandered onto a racetrack. Locusts would be crashing into them and each other and exploding in fiery glory everywhere for something like 15 seconds until there is a 9 Locust pileup and the turtles are all like, "wut just happened?"

You understand, complete and utter, beautiful chaos.
