Query. How would one use a 3S effectively? I'm having trouble compared to the laser variant, which is ironic considering I'm terrible with lasers.

I just found out about the effects of Throttle Decay on lights and it makes a lot of difference for me. Check this out, it might also help you fellow crazy Locust pilots.

Personally I use the 3S as a harasser and backstabber. I run 4x SRM2 and as much ammo as I can pack. Go XL180 or 170. Wait until both teams are thoroughly engaged, then I pick the scariest target and slam him in the face with chainfire.

If you just chainfire one group it doesn't fire as fast, so I set up two groups of two on chain fire, and a third group for the alpha. I just alternate the groups to GatlingGunSRM™. =]

The spam is really irritating and can cause distraction for the Serious Threat of Your Choice™. The dps is good too, if you can get right behind an assault. 90+ ton assaults are the best if you catch them alone because they won't be able to turn and face you if you dance right.

But hey, that's just how *I* play mine. =P

The 3s is the most challenging locust for me so far (I have not gotten to the 1v or 1m yet). I also haven't shelled out for an xl170/180 yet either so I have limited myself quite a bit. I run the xl190 with 3srm2 set to chainfire and 1 ml. My theory is be a terrible pest to evrything you see with unrelenting srm fire. I don't do th damage or get the kills as much as the other locusts but it feels very satisfying to spray srms all over the back of a spider as he tries to run away or to know that that heavy mech you are shooting is experiencing non stop screen shake because of you that said Tarogato's build is deadlier.

The problem for me, is that basically everything the 3S can do, the 1E can do flat out better.

I've been trying an LRM5+SRM4 build, which is alright, but sort of schizophrenic.

I have run 2 ml 4 sl on mine with good success. This seems like it would work just as well If you manage the heat well.

Not sure if i prefer it over the E yet.

And with this event and all the scrubs in their LuRM boats...
My Locust will get fat on whale meats.

I gave up on my other mechs and I am running my locust 3m exclusively for the challenge. This challenge was tailor made for it.

Yeah the cicadas are really starting to grow on me. I am not doing great in them but I understand them better now
