Do you fear the Oxide?

Actually no, not really. Maybe this is just arrogance, but in my Locust I almost feel like I am faster than the missiles. Hitscan weapons however...well, that's why I worry more about Firestarters that can carry the exact same loadout but better. 8 spl > 5 spl, and 238 armor > 138 armor. Yeah, I get 20 kph on them, but in terms of percentage, they get 72% more armor and 60% more firepower at the cost of a mere 11% of their speed.

Now, I'll grant you that all values were maximum, so actual difference will be somewhat...different, but the fact remains that the Firestarter has an immense potential gap in comparison to the Locust. Sure, the Jenner can run a 6-something laser-y build, but the power differential just isn't as steep there. At least it is not so much so that I don't feel like I can take Jenners on by relying on pilot skill to make up the difference in hardware. Sometimes, that might be wrong, and sometimes you might actually hit me with missiles, delusions of super-powers notwithstanding. It's just what I fear or don't, framed into a simple and orderly litany.

I just found out about the effects of Throttle Decay on lights and it makes a lot of difference for me. Check this out, it might also help you fellow crazy Locust pilots.

I've only ever played with throttle decay in all my mechs as i find it much more intuitive than commanding your mech forward and backward.

And yes the default to slow down does definitely help especially in lights.

Can you juke and avoid streaks? I would like to learn that.

Yes and no. You can juke and prevent the enemy from gaining a lock, or you can juke behind an obstacle with radar dep, but if you let them get a lock, you're probably going to get shot. Not that IS streaks are really that terrifying. The clan ones go farther and can have more missiles in a pack.

Just after some testing I have to say that PB rox. With 4 ML, ECM, AMS, wallhack & invisibility modules and 170 kmph speed there is no other mech like that one.
Pure beauty!

As bad as it sounds, there's a lot to be said for maintaining the stock loadout on the PB rather than swapping out for medium lasers and dropping the machine guns. You have a lower alpha but double the DPS, and MG's tear through internals more efficiently than lasers. On top of this your alpha hear generation is much lower making gauging your fire easier on hot maps, and worst case you can lay off the lasers entirely and keep the MG fire on for +0 heat per second. Alpha is nice for drive by's but if you're actually focusing on tearing a mech to pieces ( such as killing a dire whale by double legging it ) DPS is better.

I made him the alternate team leader. Always felt like he was the one you could trust to get the job done. Not at all like that Irvine guy. One job, he had. ONE JOB! Also the shifty-ness of not telling people what he knew.

i probably would have stuck with the original loadout but i find the MG pretty much blinds the bottom half of my screen or so with the glare so i had to take them out,i kept getting stuck on rocks and things because the glare was blocking them from sight as i moved around

don;t worry my eyesight is bad on a good day anyway

me trying to use a PPC at it's proper long range distance: "wait is that a speck? ok it is, oh wait that's a rock, here's another, ok it's moving, ok let me line up my shot." (6 PPC shots have already been fired at me in the meantime)

LCT-1E

You can also just slap Endo, FF, and an XL 190, and put 6 SPLs, for all your spammy needs. Also, if you can shave nearly half a ton of armor, you slap another DHS in there, to make sure you never overheat.

Also, if you want to get committed with the 1E, you'd want the SL range, and CD modules.

Those modules are not as useful on other mechs, so I wouldn't get them unless I've got 6 mil to throw around. They make a difference though. Also, if you are going to work on locusts, you need two XL engines: The XL 190 should be enough for all your locusting needs. The XL 170 can help for those extra-dakka builds.

I find my success rate at hitting other mechs improves after I've wiped all the dirt off my screen.
Oh the times I've overheated, sniping away at a digestive biscuit crumb....

Fun story/ballsy strategy time!

About 2 or 3 minutes into Mining Collective, I spy a few enemy mechs heading toward friendly base, so I loop around hoping to catch them off guard. I come across an LRM Catapult without back ups, so I nibble the poor sod's legs off and meanwhile ... suddenly about 8 enemies are standing on friendly base, capping it! Dunno where they slipped by... Atlas, Orion, and everything! Base goes down to at least as low as 20% in a matter of thirty seconds or less, so I zoom straight to base since no friendlies are trying to stand on it and block the cap... I park my Locust right in the middle of the cap zone amidst the enemy team and shutdown.

Not a single enemy notices.

Friendly forces slaughter them as they finally start closing in.
