The Locust is "Hard Mode" for light mechs. If you can pilot it well, there are no lights in the game that you will have trouble with.

Also, when using MGs, you won't deal a lot of damage in your matches, but you will destroy a lot of components, and get lots of kill. So at the end of the match, see how many "component Destruction" you got.

@TLxB It may sound stupid, but I use the practice maps as well, run full throttle in circles around the dummy mechs and practice live fire training. walking up to a sitting mech and blasting it is childs play, clipping a circle trying to focus fire is a {Dezgra}- legs. legs and more legs. Legs are theee weakest, mostly likely to have ammo shaved armor on any and all mechs.
you can clip two legs in HALF the time it takes to cut thru center torso armor.

If possible, you should aim for rear torso.
This is the weakest part of the mech by far.

Additionally, while making passes, if you hit legs on the way in, then RT on the way out (or vice versa), it helps panic them, especially once you strip that armour, giving them multiple weak spots, they'll change how they play, screw up, give you more openings try to defend against your team mates, or try to focus on you, exposing those weak spots to team mates.

Locust is 1 part where you shoot (actual combat), 2 parts how you shoot (survival and psycology), 2 parts speed (so you don't die).

Yeah, machineguns in groups of 4 means to shoot in the back. Easy way to kill an enemy.

I forgot about this thread and was going to earlier post a picture of me completing all mastery for locusts... until there was something on the corner of my eye... a greyed out "Locust LCT-3V"... I swear this happened last time when the 1E and that other one came out... then the pirates bane.

Soon I shall get my bragging rights.

yes the LRM dingy is your friend. however i've gone to unheard of silliness for my 3S. the hybrid dingy. one lrm 5, one srm4 and a MPL (i think- haven;t run it in a while, xl170 i think?)

The 3V is a solid mech. It has beefed up armour. Had a blast playing it with 2med pulse and 2mgs with XL-190. Almost always got a kill and I sawed off a lot of components.

the 2mpl 2mg 3v is surprising better then you would think. the staying ability with the armor/structure quirks are way out of line with what the numbers would lead you to believe. no you are not going to face tank a whale but you can shoot and scoot through red groups much better with much less DRT (dead right there) syndrome then any other LCT.

I just played a game on tourmaline with my 1e. I managed to get around the enemy and harass them a bit, got two most damage dealt assists and two kills. We just got done finishing off the last in the group when we noticed that the base was being captured. I booked it to the base but I was going to arrive alone. I didn't think it would be too bad because whatever was there was probably pretty light. I was feeling pretty confident until I crested the hill and saw those red eyes.

I was going to have to take this Atlas out myself (or more realistically slow the capture until my team arrived). We played ring around the rosy bit while I tried my best to soften him up for when my team showed up. I started to overheat so I hid behind the tracked vehicle thing while he pulled his fat ass around to finish me off. He turned the corner and manage to get my leg...this was it! With my heat at 90% I knew my next shot was going to shut me down but I was surely a goner anyway so with my last breath I fired one last desperate shot. I saw sparks fly from his body and assumed I managed to take out an arm or torso but then the victory music kicked in, he was dead!

I checked the corner of the screen assuming he over heated but I actually managed to kill him. That whole fight I was just waiting to die, to survive it and come out on top was a real David vs Goliath moment. I went from "oh ****..." when I saw him standing there to "OH ****!" when he fell.

I used to think people were exaggerating or being silly when they went on about the locust, I couldn't have been more wrong! No other mech provides the fun, and fear, that the locust does. When I start it up I don't know if it will be great or terrible but I do know it will be exciting.

Earlier tonight in the same mech I over reached in caustic valley and found myself in the middle of the enemy team. I noticed on my map that my team was just over the hill but to get to them I'd have to run through the entire enemy team...so thats what I did! I rode the hills, swerving back and forth like a madman and made it damaged but alive. I managed to get a few kills and assists later on and we won the game. In almost any other mech I would have resigned myself to my fate or ran away getting blasted in the back.

Piloting this thing is going to turn my hair grey.
