still absolutely love this mech, mostly for the surprised praises you get when you absolutely decimate using them. Just came from a match on a slightly upped stock 1V (medpulse with quad mgs) and it was so satisfying to take out a full lance while doing my job as the immortal squirrel.XD and on alpine no less. coulda sworn i'd be gauss chow on first sight.:P

I love this mech, but it has a problem of being -too- fast when descending hills. Alpine peaks, try to come down the mountain without legging yourself when using throttle decay on. I'm sure every locust pilot has had this happen to them some time or another...

So I came up with a solution. Mouse wheel up for throttle up, mouse wheel down for throttle down. Stutter step on demand, with the ability to descend slopes safely! :D

Say it with me: Hit and Run, strike and fade, boom and zoom, duck and weave, rinse and repeat.

Same with me. Until I got a little more cautious and I installed the module for reduced fall damage (and while we're at it: The hill climb module is awesome as well), but I think mostly because I got more cautious. Never legged myself since that, in a regular match.

That's possible now? Last time I tried something like this, the GUI wouldn't accept my mousewheel. Gotta try. Awesome. Thank you.

Good to hear. Given how the Lolcust only has 2 mech module slots (or 3 if you have it mastered), I think replacing fall damage absorb with another module is a better idea. Because you're supposed to get in there, kill, and get out.

Try the following:

- Adv. Seismic Sensor, for checking around corners before you go out behind that cover
- Radar Deprivation, for obvious reasons
- Improved target info gathering, because you want to see that paper doll as quickly as you can.

Hill climb is a bit unnecessary, I find. The lolcust already has enough engine power and climbing angle that you might as well be one of Skyrim's all-terrain horses; and for those hills that aren't exactly possible to climb running straight ahead, you can climb by going at an angle. If you do go up one of those, chances are you will take major damage coming back down if you were forced to come back down quickly (such as if you were facing the business end of a KGC's double AC20).

It is true, however, that with shock absorb and hillclimb, you do have more escape routes when you need to hightail it out of there. But of all maps, I can only think of Forest Colony and Alpine Peaks where there are steep slopes that aren't vertical walls.

That green jungle. Verdant something? You can climb on many plateaus you should not be able to, and get stuck on branches in a similar manner.

IT'S FINALLY HERE! Marik Violet is on sale today, so I finally have a pink Locust!
Took it out for one match before I had to go back to work - 5 kills ~600 damage. Solo'd 3 of them, 2 were missile boats, all were ploughed thoroughly from behind.

Pink lolcust? I wish there was a bee pattern. Then I could have 'float like a butterfly, sting like a bee' down pat, with a yellow and black paintjob!

....I mean, come on. You can already paint a direwhale as a watermelon...

But seriously. Post the pink lolcust up, preferably dropping a pink panther.

I mastered it and usually have "Radar Deprivation" and "Advanced Target Decay" (makes for a better spotter) installed, alongside "Shock Absorbance". Just currently I'm in love with "Hill Climb" which takes the place of Target Decay.

Without it, in the Canyon Network, I often lack, just one little tiny step when running up one of the walls (and then, I'm stuck at the edge).

It might be just my imagination (or a little luck hitting the right spots/angles), but with the hll climb module, I most often make that final little step.

I run Hill Climb on all my Locusts. I will take it over Radar Deprivation, although the latter is quite useful as LRMs are still a huge problem with no ability to dodge. I dumped shock absorbance because I rarely get legged or leg myself. It does happen, but not as often as getting torso-cored, so it's more worthwhile for me to take another module.

Seismic is pretty much a must for me. I've grown way too dependent on it. I kind of wish they'd pull it from the game, but you are completely screwed if the enemy has it and you don't. On the other hand, you have a much higher survival rate if you have it and the enemy doesn't. If you both have it, well...you're still screwed.

I never tried Hill Climb... perhaps its time to do it. How much does it cost? I think I have some 20 million C-Bills and was contemplating getting Cheaters but well I haven´t yet finished leveling the Blackjacks :P

Now thinking of it, it doesn't happen often to me in the last couple of month's. I've got to try whether it's my piloting, or if Locust legs simply aren't as attractive to target anymore. Will take a look at that seimic sensors.

I'd use the Dazzle pattern to do this, with Sulphur (or something similarly bright and rich from a mechpack early-adopter bonus) and Obsidian (or hot rod black, etc.)

Just a thought :D

Death comes on swift wings.
An emerald streak from behind,

I noticed when I was poking around that the Falcon Gold (which you used) and even the Rassalhague orange made for decent-looking Bee-custs

This is the thread that never ends, it keeps going on and on my friends... I feel the urge to dust off my locusts and romp around a bit...

I just realized I hadn't mastered the 1M and the 1V! New goal!

Also, I see there is a 7th locust! (I have been away awhile) and why do its quirks give it.... armor? So weird.

I also forgot how fun the damned 3s is! Target selection is key!

Because it has no guns. I run mine with a single LPL, and it is hilarious.
