I can't unsee it.

My mental hygenist is booked through January, so I'm coming to the Locust support group for help.

The Jenner IIC's walking animations remind me of the Locust. The way it light-steps makes me do a double-take, because I often identify mechs by profile and movement.

The Jenner messes with me because it's too big to be a Locust (and misshapen to boot) but my quick-profiling reflex tells me it's a Locust nonetheless.

Verrah Confusink.

/sigh

I guess the answer in any case is to shoot them all and let the server sort 'em out.

Yeah, I like it better than the 1 erll build, but it isn't the 1e by any means. The DPS is pretty crazy but that means staying with a target longer since the alpha is so low. It is good for drawing enemy mechs out of their death ball if you get behind them and start shooting them in the back. You can usually get two or three to chase you.

Just took that too literally managed to scout the whole enemy team. That match didn't last long. Anyway had a bit more luck with it now. Not sure whether i should scrape some of my rather empty savings into a std engine build to experiment with 'tanky' locust with an erll. Or whether i should buy a hugely overpriced level 5 cooldown module for the lpl so i can fire it every 1.57 seconds combined with target info gathering.

yeah, getting caught behind the enemy usually ends a round rather quickly...so don't get caught ;)

Also, lol. Just realised.

If Light PPCs were added to the game (they're 3 tons each LPPC, dealing 5 damage at the same range as a standard PPC), you could easily boat 4 of them on a RVN-2X. It also only occupies 2 crit slots, so you could put one on a LCT-1V for hilarious chaingun style PPC action.

....And you could have two on a LCT-1E. Let the mini gunboat race begin!

I have been playing the Jenner IIC lately, and no, it is not a Locust. At least not JUST a Locust. This thing is the OP big brother any Locust pilot would love to hate because it makes the Locust absolutely obsolete. More tonnage, clan weaponry, JJ, same speed, Heatsink IN ENGINE, more armor, and most importantly chicken-legged.

I had been called insane multiple times recently for suggesting the Jenner is a pretty tough mech. But compare to our venerable Locust, it is a real tank.
Nevermind that though. My first love is the Locust, and I will be back after I master those Jenners.

Well, I nearly never pop a ST, so the added tankiness of a STD would be pretty minimal for me, and I really enjoy my CD5 and range LPL modules on that 1 gun boat.

Wouldn't you know it, I go and say something like this and then come within a millimeter of dying that very way. Had a great match on crimson just now.

I started on the lake side and scouted the saddle, and traded a little laser fire with a ACH and Raven that were doing almost the same thing I was. Told my team, and they decided that a mixed light and medium lance merited a firing line formation around the entry to our side of the saddle. So, I told them not to get hung up on those guys or they'd be flanked from the tunnel or the hill, and sure enough literally just as I was saying that, a whale popped over the hill and a king crab made his way up the ramp onto the upper deck. So, being the Locust pilot that I am, I jumped over the hill past the assault lance that was lo and behold ACUTALLY FRIGGING ASSAULTING, and straight into what turned out to be a heavy lance right behind them. I then popped a UAV and ran like a manic chicken.

My team turned around to face the WALL OF RED on the minimap that I'd lit up, and the enemy wound up dropping into the lower deck. Meanwhile, I went to check on the saddle, which was being held by a dude in one of those humanoid mediums, I think I was a Centurion. By himself. This guy was a full-on hero or some such, since he managed to hold like four guys back alone. So I dropped a couple of zaps into an enemy Stormcrow and circled back to the lower deck, leaving hero-man to himself. Wound up pounding on a Nova, but getting tagged by an AC20 round from a Jager, which was where I nearly died to ST destruction, as mentioned above.

My team, however, had taken advantage of the enemy's typical cookie-chasing willingness to target the Locust first to absolutely WRECK them. That Jager in particular chased me exclusively for some single-minded reason. Anyway, we beat those guys and the dude at the saddle was STILL kicking, and down to a lone twin-LPL Blackjack cowering behind the metal thing at the bottom of the city side of the saddle. So he was pretty much a freebie on the mopup. It was a good fight. That Jager had me worried a couple of times.

I've elited one of my Cheaters. my god, it's still an excellent mech after nerfs.

Looking at my stats though I'm just 2 hours from having 24 hours worth of play time in the 1E! Now that's a real milestone.

So I basiced the crabs and I like. Big XL + big lazors or Big STD + Wubs makes a rather tanky small striker mech much to my taste.
I also bought Urbies and was lazy so I basiced them with GXP. My best matches so far with upgraded speed (used the XL180 from my Peanut Butter, who would have thought I would ever be able to swap my Lolcust engines to another chassis Posted Image )
with:
AC2+4Mlas / AC5+ 3 Mlas.
Mixed succes in STD100+LBX10+2Mlas Posted Image

However one thing really made my angry:
I was in a drop and told my assaults I would hang with them cause Urbie is rather slow. Some guy from the Antares Scorpions started to berate me in chat that I should never again bring that crap mech and bla bla.
So I stayed polite and told him that you can also have fun in this game, and that I also like my Locusts that are considered subpar by some and I can carry as well in those as in my other lights. Then it becam really ugly:
He said that such trash mechs are never seen in Tier1 games. I lold and told him i was in plenty high tier games with it and others too. Then he went on what a glorious comp player he was and I should go back to my ghettotier.
I got a bit angry then. I watched him play after I died, he was in a twin PPC/ twin AC5 marauder.
I gave him some advice cause he wasn´t able to hit an Adder at 250 meters Posted Image he ended the game with 300 dmg no kills.

Something like that doesn´t happen often but I really find it infuriating. Oh btw after he called me ghettotier lol I asked him 4 times about his tier but he wouldn´t tell. Well he made it to my very exclusive list of priority search and destroy targets (Nr. 3)

So now I gotta Locust a bit, my little friends have been neglected for too long. Posted Image

Well, next time you meet him...I heard that shoving an AC20 into a mech's tailpipe does wonders for their behaviour.

Well the good news is, he made himself look like a real idiot to the rest of the team. I have a hard time understanding why people think that kind of behavior is acceptable and don't understand how it makes other people think negatively about them.

Keep on locusting, fellows. Nothing new about metatards being metatards. Just beat them with the small stick and show them that size isn't everything. Which, in the case of the Locust, is quite literally true.

Little guy still rips parts.
At the end there were 3 enemy Heavies left, the Lord Jenner and me were constantly circling round some spires at tourmaline, always counterdirectional ripping them apart Posted Image

on a whim after my partner bought me the light performance pack. I decided to get the pirates bane with the mc that came with the pack. Out of the many hero mechs I have bought, this is the only one that I have felt to actually come out of the box with just about everything you want and need with only minor upgrades required. on top of that, its just really fun to drive. I also finaly got the xl engine for my 1e which is a great deal of fun.

anyway, whats really nice is that when I keep focused, I can get over 20 damage per ton games. heck, right from the get go the pirates bane shined both with 4 mediums (a bit too hot) and 4 spl's (just about right, though you really got to get into them to hit them hard)

I have also acquired my third and final locust for now, the 1s version. just need to upgrade the engine, the double heatsinks and it will be ready to go. that being said, locusts are fun because they can fly without wings or jump jets. if your willing to take a bit of a fall, it can really let you catch people off guard.

Spot-check Kanamisan, is that the 1V, 1M, or 3S you got?

The 3S is a super-fun, extra high-risk pocket Huginn, or any number of other trolly things, really. I like mine with nothing but SRM2s and ammo (and engine and heatsinks :P) it's hard not to have fun in 20 tons of tissue-armored high-speed fury.

Enjoy, and welcome to the Wonderful World of Locusting™.

Go forth and "locust things" mightily :D

Never be bothered by an unimaginative idiot who thinks that he's a good pilot, because the build is carrying them. Especially when they use words like "ghetto tier" or "trash mech" It clearly shows they don't know how to pilot a mech well. Otherwise, they would have made those "fail mechs" work.
