So what I would like from all of you, to confirm/expand/adjust my personal feelings is builds you love, what you feel to be the current 'locust meta', what are must avoids and must haves, tactics and tricks, etc.
Then I will make a locust soup.

Captain Obvious reporting in:
MPL and ERSL sync ranges really nicely.
5ERML on the 5-energy Lolcust is nice. 6ML on the 1E is nice. Do not go 6 ERML on the 1E. Too much jalapeno laser sauce.
SPLs are
HMG+Something LCT-1V is for for trollololz. <<Cleanup, F3 corner please. Cleanup on F3 corner.>>
Stealth-smoke-dive PB isn't kind, but it's effective in its own way.
Rocket Launchers are amusingly situational. They will vary in the degree to which they manage to be very amusing, mind you. But it's fair to say they're very situational.

Time to discuss the state of the Locust. with the Flea out there and some very tanky lights, the Locust, to me anyway, is still a good mech that sees game play. i must admit there is a flea that is a blast to run around in but is even more fragile then Locust.
what's the thoughts out there, if anyone is still here....
BTW troll time with the littlest LRM dingy is the flavor of this evening

Other locust variants are hard to recommend over their various competitors, mostly just there for troll builds and fun randomness.

Glad i pulled the dust sheets off my locusts last night. Nothing like a 20t terror to fix repeated **** matches and teams.

Locust has faster twist speed, nice on a light, but largely irrelevant because 20 tonners don't have HP to soak with and you're better served just trying not to be hit. The Fle has a built in juke box.

LOL you really should try out the LRM dingy before you dismiss it out of hand.

it can be a fun troll build. back a bit ago the 1m had huge range bonuses that allowed tagging at 1250m. now not so much. it is a great harasser mech. get behind the reds. launch a few LRMS to get their attention fade away. with any luck you can get 1/2 their firing line to turn around looking for the missile boat in their back field.

Besides, it's not like you, your team or the enemy team will notice any difference whatsoever whether you are alive or dead, so....

yous guys have no sense of adventure. lol
get outside your comfort zone and embrace the LRM dingy
nice 200 damage/200 plus match score games are doable
anybody can rock a peanutbutter, but to do well with a couple of LRM 5s and counting coup with a tag is a challenge.
also the new flatter LOS LRMs make a nice hit and run 200~300m harasser.
the point of the LRN dingy is not high damage but to make the red firing line move out of position. and to troll both teams
