Was what I was doing.

upon actually swapping though, it seems damage is the same because of recycle time. Might try mods..?

The main difference between using ML and SPL is the range.

You know those near vertical wall/cliff faces in canyon network? The ones without the pathways you can climb, the ones you have to JJ up cause your mech can't go up them? You can run up pretty much 80% of those in a locust going full speed, and in less time than JJs too. Learning to truly pilot a Locust results in some shocked responses from enemy pilots.

Yeah, I noticed that too. First I complain like everytime I drop there without JJ, but then came to realize the Locust can actually climb (!) most of the ridges.

First time I underestimated that little bugger.

So, I've got a wicked bit of insomnia going on right now and decided to play a little MWO to pass some time. Which led to literally the best match I've ever had. Back-cored 2 DWFs and a Blackjack, and leg-killed a Kit Fox. Almost got that other medium too, but I guess I can't complain about kill stealing when it's basically what I did to the Kit Fox. 585 damage, 4 kills, 4 assists, top of both teams (though only by a point compared to the second DWF I killed) AND I got my creeping death achievement. So much win. <3 sleep-deprived Locust driving.

You took out 280 tons just in kills alone man. I think even an assault would be proud to do that much.

That's the way I look at it. If I can kill or cripple more tonnage than I bring to the battlefield, it's been a successful drop.

Well I have been way to lazy and distracted by other mechs and outofgame things and I have been sitting on 4 mastered locusts for months now but I finally bothered to master my 5th and final the 1E. Now I await the hero.

I want a hero Locust even more now that I have MC with which to purchase one. Hope it has at least 4E slots. Or some kind of cool quirk. Something good. I don't want it to be like my 1V where I just can't quite do enough with the energy slot and don't have the patience to wait for my team to make something vulnerable to my MGs.

I know too many people chastise it and say "oh great, we lose because we have Loci on our team" but I want to extend my gratitude to those of you whom pilot that little killer.

And a lot of my view comes from being on a team facing good drivers.
I got to watch one day on Tourmoline(sp) Desert a pair of these guys rip into and disrupt an entire firing line just by zigging and zagging and poking away with their guns. And since most players mount their armor frontally, this definitely helps you guys plink into what little is on our rear.
I have nothing but respect for you crazy pilots, lights are not my forte, so I tend to sit in awe and watch the light show as you guys do your thing.

I'll Lance drop with you any day of the week.

Thank you for the praise my friend. I personally would be happy to run the little bugger for you and your friends. I'm actually about to purchase and start mastering my 1E tonight.

My LCT-1V(P) and LCT-3S are now fully mastered.
Now for my LCT-3M and the other two I have yet to purchase. :D

Any suggestions for building an LCT-1M?

Just picked one up, and... do not plan on giving it DHS actually.

From what I had available I stuck Endo/Ferro on (and raised the armor :o), swapped the ML for 2 smalls, and gave it an extra half ton of ammo.
XL 190 (because my 180 was already in use) and the required 3 HS (run 4 extra on my other locusts - not sure why)

Edit: Clarification on the DHS bit:
None of my other Locusts have them and I have not really felt the need for them either.
My 3M runs kinda hot (4smalls 1 Med) but I tend to stick around to much with it as it is, and a better heat cap would make me far less cautious.
Only Locust I plan on giving DHS (and maybe not even that one) would be the 1E (Because 6E hardpoints run HOT - that Jenner is my least favorite)

In happier news (And I may have known this already)
The free hotrod pattern was available for my 3M as well - for freesies! :)

Already run SRM on my 3S (4xSRM2)

That top one is almost how I have it set up, only with the HS in the legs, and the ammo (1.5 tons) spread between the arms and head.

Edit: the () notes

Since these things are so damn cheap, I am seriously going to get a Trio and try them out.
If for nothing else then to create rage on people when a 20T Mech takes out their 'Meta (insert Mech here)'.

Monkey...that paint job. I need to get something like this. If I have MC after buying the other things I want.

The idea of my Locust painted in road-guard neon yellow and orange pleases me more than you can likely know.
