Locust should be able to turn faster/accel faster than any other mech

I thought they did?

The Commando with max sized engine is like... 1.5kph faster.

Faster top speed and faster accel are two very different things

I think the Locust has faster reverse acceleration? Maybe? It's not super-noticeable if so.

Commandos are faster.

As far as turning and acceleration, i dunno.

Some Commandos have a bonus quirk to reverse speed(i might have to re-buy the 1b or a....

And locusts are that quick that if you at least see the smoke first you can rocket out of the way.

I think running 5 points of armor I have been arty killed once and once to the head by a lucky shot from a ac40 jager.

I would go this route. LCT-1M.

As it stands, the 1E, 1M, 3S unless you guys know better on starting with them?

-ST

a bit late to the party but here's what i've done with those if i can remember (been lvling up cents and vindis so haven;lt hopped into the locusts in a bit)

1E- LPL and SL (had an extra half ton leftover..) actually worked ok shockingly. currently switched to make firepower a bit more even with a LL (ERLL seemed a bit too hot for my liking) and a ML. did try SL/SPLs but getting close enough to shoot tended to get me killed after the first hit or two.

1M- 2MPLs and an SRM4 i think it was, had considered dropping the MPLs to MLs and throwing an SRM 2 in but don;t recall if i did or not or how well it worked.

3S- i did use the dual lrm 5/ML(MPL) thing for a bit but can;t use arty with two and 1 isn;t worth it. so i went with 3 SRM2s and 2 tons of ammo (had 4 but dropping one makes the heat better and gives you a few extra shots for the same amount of ammo) and a MPL i think it was.

ISSUE: Don't know if it's just me, but suddenly It's really hard to break 100 Damage in a 1V. Is it Machine guns, Hit Reg, or just me as a player?

TBH I'm pretty awful in anything short of the 3M. I've noticed that something weird seems to be going down with MGs in particular though. Seems a lot harder than usual to saw off exposed parts of mechs.

MGs haven't done it for me in a long time tbh. I still have my 1V, but I don't drive it.

Decide to go ah hell to the K/D ratio last night and just for giggles took my 1E out with 6 flamers luckily dropped straight onto Tourmaline, after a bit of faffing about trying to sporadically toast some mechs i found a nearly lone atlas not being supported by his chums very well. I gave him the 6 flamer circle of death at 150kph for over a minute. He didn't even try shooting back and so didn't overheat. He must of had team chat open as his buddies then turned up and legged me, oh well fun while it lasted, we won though easily. Didn't seem to work as well on Terra therma the next map, may of been the ember i stumbled across seriously damaging the match sticks the Locust has for legs then some FF removing the rest of my armour trying to escape the Ember.

In another game I had my 3M on mech factory with 4xml and a tag and was busy spotting for team. Teamed up with a Firestarter to have a go at a hunchback but the Firestarter mysteriously disappeared as a friendly atlas turned up. Who kindly acted as damage sponge allowing me to continue to maim the hunchback and kill a Quickdraw. Unfortunately a lance of the red team turned up simultaneously and the Atlas couldn't cope and dropped. I foolishly fired the lazorrrs once to many and shut down. Ooops.

that new map is a locusts wet dream....

So easy to get around all the stuff and hit and run before they can react.

MG have a cone of fire (Like SRM)- depending on how The Lady favors you, you can fire every round in your mech and not hit what you are pointing at.

Some days every bullet hits that exposed part on that 150kph Spider.
Some days you cannot hit the broad side of a Dire Wolf.

Actually there is, but that has much more to do with psychology than stats.
The "stronger" the mech the more aggressive I tend to be - frequently to the detriment of my playskill.
Also: the "weaker" the mech, the more likely it is to be ignored - and (esp as any mech can die so quickly) there is no threat bigger than the one ignored.

Well spoken! Its the mechs that I didn't pay attention to, that predominantly take me out of the fight. As for the locust, this is some good stuff. Hit me up, I'll go on locust runs with you ~Grins

From what I've been told, Machine Guns cone expands as you fire, starting off smallish (1-2 components at optimal / max range) expanding as you fire to cover the entire mech or more.

So it's better to fire your MGs in bursts, rather than hold down the trigger.
