You forgot Shadow Hawks, Cataphracts, Jagermechs, and Stalkers. Maybe the Sabre mediums too, I dunno. The rest of the mech roster is either sub-par or outright bad (i.e. Trebuchet, Awesome, Dragon, etc...).

OMG, is Lockwood the one with that dual LB-10x Hunchback that was going to ruin the game unless PGI did something about it, or do I have the OP mixed up with some other loon?

Technically he's the individual who is now saying that PGI ruined his perfect convergence dual LBX hunchback because of the new hunch geometry. :D

Okay, so it is the same dude. LOL!

I think Jman5 hit the nail on the head. The difference between the "meta" mechs and most of the rest of the mechs is probably a lot less than most peoples' egos can handle. Pilot skill is a huge factor, far and away the most important factor imo.

I just bought three Quickdraws. :D

I'm surprised you don't see them more. They're decently armored, have JJ, and can mount two PPCs in the torso mounts. They run like baby Highlanders at medium speed, which makes them pretty nasty poptarters.

I play it more like a... I dunno, cool (as in heat) mid-range striker. 4ML and 2LL, 300 XL and 20 DHS. No ES or FF armor.

Like with the Dev Tracker, I'm going from Sunday to Sunday. Since this post was created yesterday....

And yes... this will be a new thing I'm doing for 2014, I'm also toying with "Least Helpful Dev Post of the Month", were I doing this last month, the Player Level/Module post would have won hands down.

I was curious about a build like that to compliment my Victor and S Hawk sine I needed a heavy. All the bad press on it being a suicide wagon deterred me.

How have you found them in light of this, for an average to above-average pilot, chassis depending?

Do you seriously call poptarting pinpoint-alpha autocannon-PPC builds balanced jack of all trades? Or aren't you just really aware why Victors and Highlanders are considered good in the current meta?

Metas are only meta till someone solves the meta or PGI nerfs it.

I see every mech in the game except for the Trebuchet, and I see every mech in the game except the Trebuchet taking turns at being amongst the highest damage mechs in any given round. They're all usable given enough time and patience...which is exactly the kind of game I want.

This, by the way, is how I know the weapons in MWO are fairly balanced. It's the first major fallacy in balance thinking around here...the idea that you can balance weapons in a vacuum separated from the impact of the mechs. You can't, because mechs use weapons differently. You can't balance weapons; you can only balance mechs.

Average, but I'm still unlocking proficiencies, so I can't say for certain. It's no brawler, so you have to stay at midrange for the most part. The one thing I dislike is that it seems to accelerate pretty slowly, even with a 300xl engine (81kph). A 320 makes it come alive and move more like a SHawk.

Anything else is just tricking yourself into thinking your useful.

With a meta this narrow.... no wonder this game is on the brink.

Lewl. :D

You're just tricking yourself into thinking that the 'Mech has anything to do with a pilot's usefulness.

With an opinion this narrow-minded... No wonder you have false impressions of the state of the game.

I've been "useful" in Jagers and Cataphracts and I have no issues with these mechs.

L2P?

I compete, both in PUG and 12 man using Blackjacks, Hunchbacks, Centurions, Shadowhawks, Jagermechs, Cataphracts, Orions, Victors, Battlemasters and my NON DDC Atlases (and your exclusion of the DDC shows you are either trolling or clueless). All of which I am running positive W/L and over 2.0 KDrs in, and I am not one who gives a {Scrap} about stat padding, so if me dying buys time for my team to rally and save the cap, then in I go guns blazing. It's hell on one's KDr if epeen is important to you, but I really don't care.

At the end of the day, with any reasonable builds, it's the Meat, not the Metal.

I would disagree. However, with such an unequivocal sort of statement I am guessing you are trolling.

Although Victors, Highlanders and Jenners are good they are actually a minority of the mechs fielded.

Raven-3L
Spider-5D
Atlas D-DC
JM6-S, A, DD
CPLT - various types
Cataphracts
Shadowhawk
Battlemaster

In the matches I play in these mechs are probably as common or more common than the Highlander/Victor/Jenner and there are others I haven't even mentioned.
