I would say have fun, but that looks taken.
Mildly addictive is it not.

This game has a steep learning curve but there's nothing quite as satisfying as tinkering about in the mechlab trying out different loadouts etc. It's just good fun.
After coming from the trainwreck that was WOT this feels refreshing and won't be going back coz I'm enjoying this too much.
If some of you veterans take pity on this noob I would love some advice/help in how to get better at this.

Second advice is always run away from a fair fight.
Last but not least get on Team Speak like others have said, and when the more experienced players give you advice listen.
Also, don't use flamers (ever) or Gauss unless you have two. The charge mechanic is tricky to keep track of when you have other weapons demanding your attention. A UAC5 even with the jam chance is probably a better choice.

As NovaWasp just above said, and also don't be afraid to start threads here if you're really stuck. Make sure you check the subforum and the 'Short Question, Short Answer' thread first.
There's plenty of people here willing to help

I still don't get to play very often - only just coming up on 250 matches after 1.5 months of semi-regular play - and with maple syrup season approaching I'll be playing even less, but I've definitely settled in.
I now have no problem getting respectable damage and many assists no matter what mech I pilot or how good/bad my pug team is. I find it easier to read the play and what other pilots are going to do or not do. And I've got a medium and a heavy chassis Elited.
So yes, the game has gone from being engaging and challenging as noobie, to now being engaging, challenging and REALLY FUN as an experienced player.
I hope all noobs stick around long enough to experience the same progression.

You are absolutely correct when you say this community is one of the best if not the best online....even with the rage posters and negative nancy's...
You are absolutely correct when you say the game isn't perfect, but it's getting better and as long as they are improving i am good with what we have...
I am glad you hung around and hope you find a unit to fit in with soon so you can see how much better it can really be...Team work is the most important aspect of this game....
Once again thank you for posting something positive especially since you were realistic with what you posted...

If anything, in the year since i posted that, I've joined a better unit than i expected to, made more friendships as a result, and had far more fun playing a dumb game than i ever would have predicted.
The game development still lags in a few respects; We're still short on maps, some mechs are poorly designed & implemented, and CW definitely isn't some jaw dropping spectacle, but like the rest of the game was last year, it's still new and under constant change and development. I still hold out hope that it will be epic... eventually.
There's been a lot of (more than normal, it feels) posts recently from what seems to be a group of new players that seem to want to be spoon-fed their achievements and enjoyment. They don't want to work to learn how to beat better players in better-built mechs, they just want to be able to, immediately.l
My hope is that maybe a few more of them maybe read my OP before they post some ranting whine about game difficulty, or the grind, or OP mechs, or OP units, or some other not-as-important-limiting-factor-once-they've-dropped-500+ matches and learned the lessons and acquired the experience that simply playing the game, more, provides.
See ya on the field

Hey Amsro, any chance you could make a "I Need A Hero" version of that desktop, obviously with all the hero mechs portrayed?
Could be cool
