Since there is no chat system in place to coordinate 3 lances in pug matches, the tonnage mix match will usually produce lopsided results.

That is the price we must pay for not using the TS3 servers that are there to support playing the game on. Seriously, we all know that comms help coordinate. So knowing that if we are not using it to help our team do better, it is a choice we have to live with. I have for the better part of 7 months now! *shrug*

If Elo were more effective at grouping players of similar "skill" (however we choose to define it), then that wouldn't be an issue.

(Or we could just buff the underperforming mechs and not add MM handicaps for using them, but buffing things is heresy).

That again shows the failure of ELO not taking chassis into consideration. Lets assume the MM is working perfectly 2 high elo assault players would be put on different teams. But 1 takes a VCT-DS and the other takes a AWS-8Q....

One way to cure that ailment would be to improve the chassis that aren't up to par. In this case the AWS needs some serious hitbox adjustments (and buffs to energy weapons in general).

That of course would be the best solution, but would require piggy to actually make meaningful and useful balance changes.

It's not that. If you have people dropping solo or in 2,3,4 man groups and they are in NGNG or Comstar or not in any VOIP at all, you can't magically coordinated them all unless you are typing instructions in all the time. They would have to connect to those TS3 servers and then find all 12 people in one channel and quickly. If the game had in game VOIP like Counter Strike or other type of game that has it, it becomes much easier.

Even Steam's voice chat system would work if MWO was integrated with it. I've used it before, it's not bad. They would make use of that system if they went with a Steam release.

What is this heresy that you are talking about?

You mean the "working as intended™" campaign?

So you never wanna face an assault company? That is what the 10th Lyran is supposed to look like. What are you going to do if you drop where they are defending?

This feels like the pains experienced in WOT with Match Maker and balance. I am really concerned that once the Clan mechs enter that this is totally a disaster. Yes I listened to the Vlog and heard they are working on balance but hey the list of working on is longer then their nose now.

I mean really how hard can it be to balance based on Tonnage or even BV since the mechs are using Battletech configs so what if you drop 10 v 12 if the tonnage is say under 5% or BV is under 10%.

The way it is going (like WOT and Clan Games) your going to get 10 Atlases and 2 scouts in any CW game.

Come on MWO can do better then a bunch of Russians can, Can't they?

Joseph, rationalize it however you want, but the simple fact is, I said "fuggit" shutdown for the night and went elsewhere and I'm probably not the only one who did so after that game. More than 3/4 of my friends list is perma-red and 0 of 6 people I introduced to MWO are playing the game any longer. ...sure the game needs some things, but some semblance of balance for those playing mixed builds/lances is a critical necessity. I would very literally only launch solo were there a solo queue due to how terrible matchmaker is at balancing these groups who can't self-police...

Play in a clan, or atleast use the free TS at no guts no galaxy to team up with other lone wolfs. And see your problems fade away. You can play nothing but meta mechs and face a enemy team of stock mechs, but if they're all communicating and your team isn't, you're still going to lose.( I actually was playing a stock victor(with SH) for elites, in a four man and we still won nearly every game.)

Good suggestion but a little late. He is in C4 of Davion, so are the other three in that lance (even that new guy that I'm gonna have to abuse for not having an affiliation yet :) )
